The Plompe toren is a relic of the lost village of Koudekerke. The red brick building is not of particular beauty but is accessible (given a good physical condition) as a lookout over the Island of Schouwen Duiveland to the North and the Oosterschelde waters to the South.

I had no idea the magnitude of this place. It is an engineering marvel and seeing it up close and personal was beyond anything I could possibly imagine. The time, energy and thought that went into this to save land and people was astounding.

The trip takes you across the Oosterschelde. Right after departure you see the Oosterscheldedam in the distance. If the tide is low, the boat will then stop at the Roggeplaat, where seals are resting. Binoculars are provided, and there is a telescope on board. Still...MoreThanks

Heerlijke koffie in een prachtige ambiance met aparte kunst cadeau's!
Tijdens het uitzoeken van een
Moederdag cadeau , dronken we een heerlijke cappuchino.
Op proffesionele wijze gezet door Barista Joop!
We hebben genoten van de koffie en de prettige admosfeer.
We hebben ook nog even in de gezellige tuin gezeten. Heel bijzonder!!

Museum Burghse School in Burgh-Haamstede offers archeological finds and an exposition on the circular "Ringwalburg Burgh -Haamstede" daing from the 9th century.
This circular defence-wall gives the village Burgh its name.
I found it a pleasant stop between a relaxing walk on the beach and browsing the village's few shops.
The village church,"Slot Haamstede" castle and "Westerlicht Vuurtoren"lighthouse are other interesting buildings in this pleasant coastal village.
