We very much enjoyed the exhibition on the local painters - better display and explanation on Swedish artists than in some major galleries. Bicycle museum not really for us but might interest others. Not a lot to do otherwise in the fortress.

We visited during hours the facility was closed, which was not the best scenario, but worked out. There is a trail around the first large antenna with some interpretive signs which will tell a good part of the story, and the experience of standing on the grounds of this remarkable historical site is impressive.

A superb visitor centre with plenty to see and do. A small café with delicious Swedish cake and good strong coffee. A well stocked shop crammed with wildlife books, clothing, gifts and they are a specialist optics centre giving good advice. The Nature Centre also has a great education facility and lecture theatre and is a magnificent community resource. From the café you can look out over the adjacent marsh and see White-tailed Eagles, Common Crane and lots of ducks, geese and swans

This fine beach far out on Getterön has ample parking, a restaurant with a kiosk, Playgrounds, toilet, shower with cold water and hills to climb on and meadows with stone to build with.
There are buses here in the summer, but there may be traffic jams at peak season.

This is a fun spa to visit. It's nothing special in terms of what it offers - sauna, steam room , bubble pool, foot baths - but the selling point is the style and history. The larger part of it is a copy of Lenin's favoured baths in St Petersburg and some memorabilia are displayed. There's a relaxation room with free drinks and fruit and the books that are a feature of the hotel. It's much more reasonably priced if you're staying at the hotel and try to avoid Fridays and Saturdays when prices are higher again.
