1. Very open with strong winds so very cold. After 15 minutes even my buttocks were shivering. Very different experience to have your buttocks shiver..... Please carry heavy woolens. In June we froze.
2. You can see China and stand on China.
3. India has a lot of presence there but you see no Chinese.
4. Chinese have a great road till the border. India still has no roads.

Sela Pass is the second highest Pass in India.
We passed this place twice in the last 3 days, enroute to Tawang. On the way up we had wonderful weather with clear skies and a sunny day. We got some wonderful photographs too. The whole drive was uneventful. There is nothing to look, but everything to experience.
Two days later on the way back, the weather had turned foul. Heavy snow with icy slippery roads made driving very treacherous. Lot of vehicles were stuck. The experienced drivers made it. Some drivers were binding their rear tyres with chains to get a better grip on slippery ice. The other side of the mountain was covered with dense fog with poor visibility. The oncoming military convoy trucks made it even more difficult.
Do not underestimate the mountain pass. Make sure that you have adequate daylight. The sun sets by 5 in the evening. Make sure that you have a good vehicle with good tyres and experienced driver.

Sangestar Tso, colloquially called Madhuri Lake (after the cine actress Madhuri Dixit) , falls on the way to Bumla Pass from Tawang. It is a very picturesque spot with a army canteen serving hot tea and snacks at reasonable price, at 16,000 feet elevation. Thanks to the Indian Army. One can explore walking around. Rains are unpredictable, icy winds are piercing. Place shall remain memorable for ever.

A must visit spot in Tawang, to pay our respect to those who fought for us and gave their lives. Spot beautifully maintained by the Army. There is a snack bar too. In the evening a short film is screened, recounting the history of the 1962 war with China, and how the Indian Army faced the ordeals. A salute to the Indian Army.

The memorial falls on the way to Tawang from Bomdila. This is about one hour short of Jung village. There is a refreshment centre of Indian Army next to the memorial which caters for light snacks and refreshment. The memorial has signboards etc giving an account of the 1962 war at Sela. Hats off to the Indian Army....respect A must stopover.

This entire trip beyond Tawang to Bumla and Madhuri Lake is just too exciting and breath taking, it leaves you desiring for more, every few hundred meters there is a lake and wild flowers all over the place. It is so attractive all over that one feels like spending entire day or more out here.

It was a peaceful place and attached to Urgelling Monastery. It a quick visit where you don't get to know much (as far as I know) unless someone explains to you. I found Urgelling Monastery more interesting simply as I got to know more about it by asking people around there.
