Blue Eye ( Syri i Kalter) is an underwater spring that bubbles up in a deep pool with a circular shape. Deep blue in the center and lighter blue on the edge , so it resembles an eye.
We had a car and drove from Sarande which took about 20 min. It's a left turn off the road to Gjirokastra ( it's just after the Bistrica hydro-electric plant).
It's a gravel road, and you pay the entrance fee a little further down. Hard to miss as there are many many cars waiting to get in, and since the road is very narrow just past the entrance gate, you have to take turns going in and out. Then, since it is so busy, you will find cars parked left and right and everywhere. If you see a spot, park it, as the road dead ends eventually and food luck turning around with all the other cars that haven't found a parking spot yet. So it probably took another 20 minutes trying to get in the "park".
Easy to find the blue eye pool, just follow the droves of people there!
The surrounding are pretty, with many trees and the river. There is also a restaurant nearby, on the river with pretty views, a shaded Terrace and bathrooms! Did not eat there so can't comment on the food.
So once we got to the spring, it seemed much smaller than I expected. And we had to get in line to get to the spot that would give you the best view of the spring. Then you had to wait for an opportunity to take a picture, since there is also a line of people waiting to jump into the spring so people are constantly diving in your view.
I have a photo of the spring and yes it is very striking. And yes I also have a photo of what the direct surroundings looked like. You be the judge if you want to make your way here!

Amazing view, cristal water and pristine beach. Its probably the most beautiful beach in Albania. The blue color of the water its not smimilar with any other beach in albana. Worth of visiting even that the road its not paved yet. There are some small Beaches beside the big one to have some intimacy.

Took the 10.30 am from Saranda to Corfu. Ticket in € or LEK. Friendly discussion with border police as Albanian officials didn't stamp my passport coming in from Montenegro. Smooth sailing, about 1.5 hours. Easy entry back in the good old EU.

It was a pleasant experience to travel on the conventional ferry to Saranda to Corfu rather than on the enclosed Hydrofoil. There is plenty of deck space forward and aft to admire the view leaving Corfu and watch the Albanian coastline and Sarande come into...MoreThank you for the good words about your experience. I was wondering if there is anything we can improve so you can change your rating and give us more stars?

A perfect bay for swimming. There is a bar-restorant-hotel in it, its called Santa Quaranta. 10 minutes away by car from Saranda city, the road that takes you in Ksamil.
You will enjoy the sandy beach and facilities. In Sarande town centre opposite the park with the Fountain. You will find a FREE bus service to this location it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get their it says Santa Quaranta on the front of the bus so you cant mistake it. You have a bus every 30 minutes.
Take lots of water sun cream and a hat cap or some sort of head cover.

Best way to go from Corfu to Sarande. Not always on time but once you are on the boat the crossing is very pleasant. They sell soft drinks and local beers. You can sit in the shade or in the Sunshine. Kids loved it so do we. €19 one way. Get tickets at the Ionian tickets office situated across the port.
