O'Daly is part of a street originally (and still) known as Calle Real (Royal Street) as many kings have walked on this lovely quaint street over the centuries. However, this Royal Street has now been given different names by areas. O'Daly and Perez de Brito to name two. Flanked with small boutiques and cafes, it is the main pedestrian street of this beautiful city and worth a walk to discover the lovely and interested family owned businesses. Hope it stays this way for a long time.

ave you ever been to a Rescue of Exotic Animal Center on the verge of a ravine? Welcome to Maroparque Isla de La Palma, a botanical and Rescue of Animal Exotic Center site which offers you panoramic views of some parts of the island as well as of the ocean. At Maroparque you can enjoy yourself while seeing exotic animals (some of them, endangered species), such as crocodriles, porcupines, snakes, birds of prey, ostrichs, monkeys...Or take a walk through our pasable aviaries surrounded by cranes, peacocks, parrots..And beautiful albino wallabies! Always surrounded by a lot of vegetation (mostly endemic)
This is our absolute favorite zoo, even after 10 visits. Today's experience was a 'once in a lifetime'. The biggest python was carried out of his cage, And we as family were allowed to carry him, feel his weight, feel the strength of his muscles, touch his skin. My eldest, the brave one, tested the feeling of a smaller python around his neck.... All workers in the zoo took all the time needed to prepare us an unforgettable experience. 'We were lucky to encounter you today' we said. 'No, we allways do it when people are interested and ask for it.
So: if you want to carry a python, come to this zoo. It is already worth the visit for the creative way in which the zoo is integrated in the steep hill-sides, a design you will find nowhere else. But with this extra atraction even more!
Small, but incredibly well integrated in the hilly

The view can be seen from the car park but to get the best out of this location requires a steep decent and of course a steep ascent on the way back up. It is not perilous in any way.
The port was in use before the roads to Santa Domingo was built.

I was arriving by a cruise and had limited time. Since there is no public transportation to get to this Park, I joined an excursion offered by the cruiseline. We did have a stop at national park's visitor center (worth a visit, since the bilingual Exhibitions help you understand how this "caldera" was formed.). We were also driven to several vantage points to take great pictures; before leaving the Park, we even had a chance to do a short walk to a "mirador" (viewing point). I would have staying longer and taken a longer walk in the Park if I had more time. However, it is total worth it for the stunning views even if you have only a couple of hours.

Su Bici is specialized on e-bikes. We offer a wide variety of brand new e-bikes for rental. Who likes to enjoy cycling without battery has the choice between different MTBs. And even children can enjoy their holidays on bike, of course, without battery. Our clients can discover the island individually or during an audio guided cycling tour.
I know i had a choice of bike hire shops in Los Cancajos however i must say that the family firm of Jurgen and Suzanne offer a really good personal service. Their attention to detail is amazing. They have plenty of time for you to...MoreThank you for the good rating. We are glad that you were satisfied with the bike and our service. See you soon at La Palma. A few Mountains are still waiting for you :-)

Access to the Mirador is strictly controlled. You can book a car park pass (free) on the Internet (places are quite limited). There are great views of the Caldera from the car park area and you can also walk quite a bit further if you wear sensible footwear. (Flip flops and sandals should stay in the car park area!).
Book an hour if you just want the views, but longer if walking. There are good Mountains walks from both ends of the car park.
The silence is unbelievable and the restricted access means there is plenty of space.
Don't forget your water. Refreshments are not available up there.
Booking a place may seem inconvenient, but it is worth it. You don't get the car parking issues experienced at Roque de Los Muchachos (and the views are very different).

At the time of our visit the hanging baskets were not bursting with colour but it was well worth a visit (unavoidable if one happens to be in the Avenida Maritima!) to see these wooden balconies and to admire the architecture and to share in the Spanish heritage.
A lot of the buildings in old Santa Cruz have wooden balconies but they are structurally and in era different from the balcones tipicos.

The drive up (and down) the breath holding winding roads to the Roque is spectacular in every way. Vineyards abound on the steep slopes and the verdant landscape is a sharp contrast to the arid areas of the south of the island. The roads are good but falling rocks is a hazard in this area - promptly dealt with by the municipal workers,
Ample parking space at the Roque. Despite the rain the viewing of the Roque left one speechless - almost a surreal setting or very near to a spiritual experience.....
Due to mobility issues we were unable to do any of the treks (very popular with the visitors) but were very delighted with what we saw and experienced.
As has been pointed out by previous reviewers, the elevation here makes for very cold conditions. We had our winter clothes and yet we were very, very, very cold. A thermos flask of tea/coffee would be a useful to take with one. There are no bathrooms at this level.
Definitely worth a visit even if you have no intentions to do any of the hikes.

W e offer dynamic activities such as hiking, speleology, driving buggies or rides on a 4x4 bus to reach unique spots on the island. We want our clients to experience the nature of the Canary Islands by offering fun tours suitable for all types of public, including children, people with mobility problems or with any disabilities. All our activities are respectful with the environment, helping the preservation of nature and using alternative means of transport
Tried direct contact, but no response to our emails, so ended up using the cruise line's official excursion.
Short mini-bus ride from the cruise terminal to buggy station, during which it gradually changed from being lovely and warm at sea level, to quite dull and cold on arrival. Suggest taking a rain jacket (though ponchos can be purchased for €2 each from the company - we experienced regular but short rain spells during our 1 day visit to La Palma) both for protection from flying dirt/water, as well as against the cold as you climb higher through the forest. Hint: put poncho on prior to entering buggy, as very difficult otherwise! We got caught in a 2 minute shower whilst sitting in our buggy waiting to begin the tour, but we'd pretty much dried out by the time we reached the halfway viewing point (which was lovely and sunny as well as affording spectacular views of the island). Conversely, if it hasn't rained, we were told that it gets very dusty on the tour.
To access the forest required a 5-10 minute drive along public roads, which due to the downpour then brilliant Sunshine, meant a lot of glare off the roads and thus sunglasses would have been handy (couldn't get them on with helmut in place though!)
Our native Danish tour guide (English-speaking) was very informative and friendly throughout the experience, including at the viewpoint an explanation on how La Palma was formed and the geography of the island (apparently, the limited light pollution makes it a very good spot for observing our solar system).
Note that buggies have manual gearboxes (4-speed, close ratio), not the automatic thumb lever type as we have previously used. The brake lights on vehicle ahead of us did not seem to function all of the time, so be aware.
There are basic toilet facilities at the station, though none during the tour. No refreshments available during this tour, so we'd advise taking your own bottled water.
