Of the many great houses and wine estates in the Pézenas area, few can match the charms of the Seigneurie de Peyrat. Today, the estate covers 200 hectares, with 120 hectares of vines, olive trees and guarrigues.Famous grape varieties such as syrah, grenache, carignan, merlot, cabernet, cinsault and pinot noir for the red wines, sauvignon, viognier, colombard, vermentino, chardonnay for the white ones have been selected and are blooming on this fabulous terroir (clay and limestone / villafranchien soils). Respecting environment and searching for high quality; this is our daily guideline. You will be welcom here to visit our castle, its chapel and also our cellar. (on appointment)If you want to buy or taste our wines, the cellar is open from tuesday to saturday 10.00 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.30.
My husband, teenage daughter and I called into Seigneurie de Peyrat this morning by chance. What a wonderful and relaxing few hours. We arrived just prior to 11am when were taken on a tour of the vineyard and cellar. After, we experienced their picnic (15€ per person) which included tasting 10 wines, local goats cheese, jams, sausage, breads, and much more. Thank you Cecille for your hospitality.

The best pub quiz in the world? Quite possibly. Spectacular evening that brings together anglophones and francophones in an atmosphere that if not entirely authentically Cat & Parrot, cannot fail to please.

For four generations, the Sutra de Germa – Gil family have been cultivating the vines at Monplezy. Each generation has added their own unique touch. Here today we find Anne, Benoit and Margot, they will make you taste their organic wines!
I stayed here for a few weeks during the grape harvest of 2014. The family could not have been more welcoming, educating and hospitable. I wanted to learn as much as possible about viticulture in the Languedoc and Benoit, Anne and the family taught me so much. I had a great time at Monplezy and I am happy to say that we have stayed friends. Looking forward to coming back v soon!

A beautiful historic vineyard producing award-winning wines in the heart of the Languedoc. We are open Monday to Saturday for free wine-tastings, vineyard walks and visiting our art gallery and historical exhibition (summer only). We offer tapas (all day), barbecues (Tuesday lunch) and also 3 course lunches for larger parties.
If a combination of interesting history, great wine, lovely food and charming hosts set in the gorgeous backdrop of a beautiful house in the wonderful french countryside is your thing then look no further than Domaine St. Hilaire. We visited in early July 2015 and spent a really enjoyable few hours there. We started the visit listening to Jonathan recall the history of the Domaine before his son Daniel introduced us to the surprisingly human characteristics of the lovely wines produced there. The wine tasting was relaxed and top class and so refreshing in the heat of the early afternoon. To finish the visit lunch was served to the front of the house by the pool, prepared and served by Ann and Helena. Lunch was the perfect finish to the visit, served with the wine enjoyed at the wine tasting was pate, tomatoes, cheese and bread, accompanied by some of Ann's homemade Aubergine chutney that was so good I bought a jar along with the extra bottles of wine we purchased. A wonderful chocolate cake finished the lunch enjoyed at a large table with all the other visitors on the day. Finally a short walk around the Gardens before we left completed the day perfectly. Go ahead and visit, you won't be sorry!

Called in to get a map of Pezenas and some insights as to the main sights. Had to wait while staff finished their own conversation, map slowly revealed and just opened and placed in front of us. Asked about main restaurant areas, staff member indicated "I don't go to restaurants so I can't help you." Hmmm

Boby Lapointe is not really known to the English. If your French is good then discover him. He was a pun master, singer/songwriter and other talents besides. Fascinating. There is also a tiny theatre within hosting the occasional real French musical evening. Thanks

This museum is only open by appointment and arrangements vary subject to the season. Fortunately we came across Michelle from Arc Historical Tours who was incredibly knowledgable and generous with her time. We spent 90 minutes in the Museum amidst incredibly interesting ancient doors, locks and hinges etc. It may sound rather droll but it was absolutely fascinating. We could have stayed longer. Michelle was raised in Canada so English communication was not an issue. Well worth a visit.

We had seen the signs to this little museum for years and finally stopped in.... it was fun to see so many items that each of us could remember from our youth... I think children would be happy to see some of the stuff.

It's good that someone put this "attraction" on here but it is important to note that the glowing reviews reflect the whole of the old town, and not just this small part.
In actual fact, Rue Juiverie has very little in it, and it is only as you wander further afield that you find the interesting shops, restaurants, bars etc. Quite simply, the best way to deal with the old part of Pezenas is to simply wander and take each street and alleyway as you find them.
It's a great town.
