Travel back in time 200 million years to see Canada's oldest dinosaur bones found on the shores of the Bay of Fundy. Learn about the world's highest tides, ancient animals and geological events from the Carboniferous through Jurassic periods. Gems, minerals, and fossils, there's something for everyone. Peer into the Fossil Research Lab and talk to the Museum Staff about the latest fossil or mineral discoveries. Beach Tours offered throughout the summer and fall.
Great museum displaying fossils, minerals, and semi-precious stones found in Nova Scotia over the years. Good for adults and children - especially during high tides (or rainy days) when combing the Beaches to look for your own 'finds' isn't feasible. Found it very informative & interesting.

Eepersip's Disappearance. Local theatre at it's best. Found this gem while planning a trip to Parrsboro prior to heading out for a kayaking trip. Loved the story and the acting was fantastic. Unique venue!

Step back in time and see what the area used to look like and how people lived. You can even see how the house was originally constructed. The rooms have lots of great artifacts to look at. They even have several local author's books which focus on local genealogy and history of the area.

I am an experienced rider and was looking for a place to go do some horseback riding and trail rides. If this is what you are looking for, stop looking, this is the perfect place. Laid back, family-owned ranch, access to nice and well-kept trails... and to the beach! A place like this one is hard to find!
Bill and Karen are both very friendly! You can't go wrong!

We saw the lighthouse from afar at low tide and didn't have much of a desire to walk to it because it seemed like quite a distance from land. After we ate at the nearby restaurant, the tide was coming in and the lighthouse looked much nicer.

This hike is called "Partridge Island", but it is not an island anymore. After pretty rigorous short climb you will be rewarded with sweeping views of the open ocean and dramatic whimsical rocks This trail is a hidden gem, not too many people know about it, but it is so worth doing it: the vistas are absolutely stunning and the hike is short.
The trail is not only well marked, but also has information boards along the way - you can read about the history of the island. There are also several benches to rest and a brand new observation tower on the summit: you can climb the stairs for even better views.
It took us less than an hour to finish the trail out and back - such an excellent choice for an afternoon hike.

To be honest we only visited the clubhouse. It was a cold and wet day and the coffee there had been recommended. We were welcomed by members having a Bridge morning. We had coffee and delicious cinnamon buns. We would have had lunch there if we had had more time because the menu was varied and reasonably priced. The views were magnificent and for golfers the course would be good.

This is a fairly easy walk to a great view of a Nova Scotia waterfall. Takes about an hour to complete the walk. Make sure you take a lunch/snack and water. Bug dope recommended as well as the black flies, mosquitoes, and Deer flies can be bad at times. Take your camera to get some nice shots of the Falls. This trail is easily accessible by experienced Mountain Bikers as well.

Parrsboro is worth the drive for the scenery, Beaches and history. For more than 30 years, Sweet Brier has been another reason to visit this rural community. Located in one of the historic storefronts on Main Street, Sweet Brier is just too cute for words on the outside and filled with seriously cool retail on the inside.
You can find your own DIY inspiration using Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan. This product is so easy to use and you can paint ANYTHING with it. Upcycling is all the rage and it is easy to make something old new again. Some of the antiques in the store feature an Annie Sloan facelift. They offer workshops too so make the trip an overnight adventure with friends.
Fitting with the surroundings the clothing line features classic styles that don't go out of fashion. One of the things I love about the place is the obvious support of rural entrepreneurs with the shop filled with Nova Scotia creations by local artisans.
In the age of big box stores finding these little-hidden gems in rural Nova Scotia is refreshing. I love one of a kind and unique gifts and it feels good to support small business. The staff is super friendly and the small garden out back is a nice touch. If Parrsboro is not within reach for a Sunday drive then most of the items can be ordered online too.
Did I mention that each purchase comes in a paper bag decorated with a blinged clothespin? I told you it is just as cute as a button!
