Modern, magic museum with everything you played with before you had a computer. With a (photo)tour and things to do. Nice for children and their (grand)parents.
This museum is housed in an old, interesting one hundred-year old school house with authentic architectural details. At the time of our visit there was a special exhibit of over 2500 antique toy cars, which drew a lot of toy car collectors. On permanent exhibit there is a fabulous installation of a motorized Meccano scene with cranes and all kinds of vehicles whirring about. There are lots of dolls of any age, race, material, size and value. I could study the doll houses for ever. The Humpty-Dumpy-Circus was fascinating. The museum houses the largest collection of Richter's Anker Stone Building sets in the Netherlands. A sight to behold. We enjoyed refreshments after our tour on the adjoining Terrace and the children seemed to have a great time. Something for everybody, young or old, serious collector or casual visitor.

Reptielenhuis de Aarde is the first official zoo of Breda. This mini-zoo is specialised in holding and caring for reptiles. The first impression of this miniature zoo is that everything is very clean and child friendly. Children get the chance to pet or even hold some animals, also every question will be answered by the animal carer. The enclosures are bigger than you normally see in a zoo. Every animal has its own habitat and temperature, that is how we ensure that every animals wellbeing is as high as possible. Curious..? Come see the zoo in Breda and discover the world of reptiles!
This is a fairly small zoo, restricted to one building of ordinary proportions. But over two levels there is still quite a lot to see. Crocodiles, snakes, leguanos, lizzards, turtles from all parts of the world. And also a preying mantice. The caretakers take out an animal now and then, to feel or observe more closely. Many kids around there, all of whom seem to love it.

Excellent venue for (self-)catered parties and events. The setting is country style. Even horses (big & small) are present. As are selection of horse drawn carts and carriages. Amenities like toilet, bar and kitchen are modern. Special mention for the big outdoor BBQ.

The Silver Gull company is a relatively large tour operator in the Biesbosch area, and they do their work well. We boarded with a group of some 30 people, several of them handicapped, and experienced a pleasant 2-hour boat trip throughout the southernmost part of the Biesbosch area. Of note, the boat had to sail through some quite narrow creeks and to avoid getting stuck in the shallow waters, but that contributed much to the entertainment. So, for a no-nonsense trip through a beautiful stretch of nature, this company is definitely recommended.

We visited the museum "De Leerlooierij (the tannery)" in Dongen with friends this afternoon and got to know a lot about the history on this ancient craft that had it's highs in the beginning and middle of the previous century. The old building features a number of exhibits to show the flow of the process from the raw hides until the processed leather and apart from being very illustrative and informative it also shows how the workers in the past had to earn a living. Labour conditions were poor and the working days were long and it was not very pleasant work but an essential complement to the poor existence of the smallhold farmers of those days. The museum building is nicely restored and one of the 12 old tanning basins is still visible though a glass bottom. The top floor shows the drying process and the middle floor shows how the different pieces of leather were treated to a final product for use in shoes, boots, clothing and furniture up to the present day, partly with the aid of the Dongen-based Ecco company. There is also space for special Exhibitions and part of the top floor is also used to explain about the history of the city of Dongen by the regional historic society. They also have a nice area to have drinks and even a family celebration is possible in this Ecco room.

Discover Holland's hidden gem. Efteling is a unique theme park with a fairytale atmosphere, natural surroundings and a wide range of thrilling and enchanting attractions, making it the ideal family short-break destination!
We visited with a friend from Hilversum during European Winter. They raved about how good Efteling was and we were not disappointed. We stayed all day and went on every ride available (even the kids ones hehe). They had decorated everything in a Winter theme and had a variety of attractions for all ages. My particular favourites was the Old Western rollercoaster and the speed racer rollercoaster - a must see is also the Scary House - be prepared to have your brain & senses spin out. Love it!! Highly recommend it!!! Guarantee - you won't be disappointed.

The museum shows you how the town Oosterhout in 1900 was, its condition and also what kind of "work" were exist in those periode of time. Soon you enter the museum area you will find some toys / instruments children used to play with. There are two halls ( were used to be barns) full of tools or instruments from all the craftsmanship back that time. The outdoor museum is about Oosterhout in miniatures. there is enough information about the "mini" buildings, the street's names etc. All the miniatures are made by the volunteers and they also run the museum. There is a path with boards and you can guess which old dutch proverb are drawned on those boards. The indoor museum is on the ground floor and the attic. After following the route you will end your tour in the museum cafe with a small shop sells old style dutch sweets and cookies. It worth for your entrance fee. Nice to come with your kids.

We have a view of the church from our hotel room and today we walked to it, went inside just as they were about to have a free Bach recital played on their amazing organ. We felt so privileged to hear it played-it is amazing. We went back later and took more photos-it really is a lovely church-quite austere but beautiful at the same time.

This church is an eye catcher on the market square, it's a big building in a small town as Oosterhout. There is a market on saturday so you can't see the whole church. It was closed when we were there so we could only enjoy the exterior. It's quite beautiful church though.
