Kaatsheuvel (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkaːtsɦøːvəl]) is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, situated along highways N261 and N628. With a population of roughly 16,600, it is the largest village in and the capital of the municipality of Loon op Zand, which also consists of the villages of De Moer and Loon op Zand. As Kaatsheuvel is a municipality capital, it had a town hall located in the town centre. The town hall was torn down in 2010 as part of an ambitious plan to build a lively new town centre. Currently the new town centre is being built, working title Bruisend Dorpshart (Sparkling Village's Heart). Kaatsheuvel is (internationally) well known for the Efteling theme park and a gateway to National Park Loonse en Drunense Duinen.

We found this nice little restaurant after a visit to the nearby theme park. The service was friendly, and after a short wait, we ordered our dinners. The food was really good, much better then we had in several more expensive restaurants. All 3 courses exceeded our expectations by far.

Working dinner in an old restored mill, great food, friendly but very professional service and a relaxed atmosphere. The most wonderful food, prepared with such skill and passion. We chose very different meals and each one was exceptional. Even the coffee was perfect.

We decided to go for the Lumberjack Plate. We ordered for 2 adults and one child (nearly 4) but our waiter helpfully advised that just ordering for 2 adults would be sufficient. So for 29 euros we got a pot full of steak, meatballs, ribs, and drumsticks plus baked potatoes and veges. All very delicious. And then a salad and a cone of fries arrived too! Tremendous value, Dessert was very good too. Drinks menu rather limited though and it got very slow towards the end (we waited a long time for dessert) as it got very busy. Eat earlier if you can.

great take out, one portion will feed two people. English spoken, good variety. Thought expensive until we saw the size of the portions, next time we will buy less!

We entered this restaurant with two children, two dogs and two babies after a very rainy afternoon hike in the surrounding Nature Park. As expected the place was packed. We found a table in the back and discovered the great beer selection. The restaurant has at least ten quality beers on tap and a fine selection of regional and (strong) Belgian beers with or without appetizers. We enjoyed the cosy atmosphere and the friendly staff. Yes the beer and the cheese were great.

Eetcafé Kandinsky stands for honest, good food in a cozy friendly environment. Lunch, diner or small bites on our Terrace or restaurant. The art of enjoyment!
Staying at Efteling and wanted to eat somewhere off-site so decided to go into Waalwijk (10 minutes drive). Chose the Kandinsky as it is in the centre and good ratings. Great choice! The sharing platters to start are something different with smoked tuna, duck, oysters, etc. We tried a few main courses - veal was great, burgers fantastic, fish of the day excellent, pasta very tasty. Really can't fault the food at all - and the service also very good. In fact, we went back the night after for a repeat performance. Best to book so you're not disappointed!

We had the privilege to visit Sfeerlijk two times. Hidden in a beautiful village in Brabant Sfeerlijk is one of those hidden gems. This small and cozy restaurant is run by a great couple. From the moment you arrive you feel welcome and you're greeted with a smile, delicious finger food and home made bread. Perfectly prepared courses such as coquille with white chocolate and Angus beef in red whine morel sauce were mouthwatering. The wines accompany the dishes perfectly. They even have some great local brewed beers as an alternative.I would definitely recommend going for the complete 6 course tasting menu and make sure to leave room for the cheese plate, you will not regret it. One of our favorite restaurants outside Paris.

Every few months we visit 'De Luwte' in Waalwijk, and we're never disappointed. The restaurant is located in a small path near the church in the centre of Waalwijk. The building is an old monumental farm which has two spaces: the new, modern part, and the old, more intimate part. The menu changes every X months, so every time we visit we're suprised. On top of the menu they have a 'catch of the day'. Last time we visited it was langoustines with prawns. Every dish is made up beautifully: your plate looks like a painting, and the food tastes great. The wines are also delicious. We usually have a bottle of wine. Make sure you have enough room for dessert! Last but not least: the staff is very hospitable, friendly and attentive, especially the host who takes time to have a small chat with his guests. The price is a bit expensive (in comparison to the other restaurants and cafés in the area), but well worth it. We can't wait to visit 'De Luwte' again!
