Kaatsheuvel (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkaːtsɦøːvəl]) is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, situated along highways N261 and N628. With a population of roughly 16,600, it is the largest village in and the capital of the municipality of Loon op Zand, which also consists of the villages of De Moer and Loon op Zand. As Kaatsheuvel is a municipality capital, it had a town hall located in the town centre. The town hall was torn down in 2010 as part of an ambitious plan to build a lively new town centre. Currently the new town centre is being built, working title Bruisend Dorpshart (Sparkling Village's Heart). Kaatsheuvel is (internationally) well known for the Efteling theme park and a gateway to National Park Loonse en Drunense Duinen.

Discover Holland's hidden gem. Efteling is a unique theme park with a fairytale atmosphere, natural surroundings and a wide range of thrilling and enchanting attractions, making it the ideal family short-break destination!
We visited with a friend from Hilversum during European Winter. They raved about how good Efteling was and we were not disappointed. We stayed all day and went on every ride available (even the kids ones hehe). They had decorated everything in a Winter theme and had a variety of attractions for all ages. My particular favourites was the Old Western rollercoaster and the speed racer rollercoaster - a must see is also the Scary House - be prepared to have your brain & senses spin out. Love it!! Highly recommend it!!! Guarantee - you won't be disappointed.

Loonsche land is perfectly located, just a short walk through the woods from the main entrance, in a beautiful setting. And The Efteling is fabulous, so of course you want to stay. However the accommodation isn't quite to the same standard as the rest of the park.
Good points are that it's in lovely surroundings, it's all brand new and only a very short walk from the park through the woods.
Certainly, Loonsche land hotel is much smarter and less tired than the older Efteling hotel (which overlooks a main road and has pot holes)
It was well signposted from the entrance and feels secluded but convenient. There are pretty cabins around a pond and the hotel itself is a towering wooden lodge.
Bad points were that you have to have a slot for breakfast. We had a choice of 7.15 (we're on holiday..) or 8.45 (we would miss the chance to get into the park early).
There's no kettle in the room, so don't plan on having a cup of tea in bed instead. There's also no hairdryer, though the suggestion is made that you can go and stand in the long reception queue and give them a deposit to borrow one. It was the last thing I wanted to do with wet hair, whilst trying to get kids ready in order to get to breakfast at 7.15.
Although the hotel is new, one of the windows in our room had come right out of the frame and with only radiators and no climate control it was quite hard to get the room warm on a cold night. It's not exactly luxury, but then you're there to visit the park.
We managed to get a dinner reservation downstairs, but for much later than we would have liked. This wasn't anywhere near peak season and the restaurant was packed. There weren't any alternative restaurants nearby, so it's probably best to eat in the park or ring ahead and reserve before you stay.
On balance, I would stay again for convenience, but if there was an option with nicer rooms and facilities, more places to eat or good indoor play for the kids, I'd prefer that. This is not a cheap hotel and it needs some work to make it comfortable for guests.

The monument is not a very special one. It is nice to see, but more important: it's in a spot with a very important history.
It is in a spot where a group of people got killed by the germans in World War 2
In our opinion not a "must see" but if you are interested in the history (especially in WW2) it is a nice spot.
The nature around here is great, one of the nicest national parks in the Netherlands. If you go here, be sure to plan some extra hours to visit national park "de Loonse en Drunense duinen", It's definitely worth a visit if you like nature!
