I guess to take pictures of the bridge itself from Wakura, is nice on a sunny day.
But the island is good to explore, too, if you can go by car.
Recommend crossing this bridge on the way and use the other bridge back to town, or visa versa, and snack on the fresh grilled oysters if it is the season for that!!
Yummy!!!

Noto-jima (and the rest of the Noto Hanto) is a great place to cruise along the coast and get a taste of traditional Japanese fishing village life. We drove along the coast, beginning in Toyama, and camped in the evenings. We found the camping facilties to be excellent, and there was easy access to supplies of food and water for campsite-cooking. As of now, the Noto Hanto is still relatively undeveloped, making it a good place to explore if you want a taste of authentic Japanese life. A word of caution, however. We found the skill of the local drivers to be terrible, so please drive defensively, especially on the smaller mountain roads that line the coast.

When you visit this region, got to visit here before you leave.
This place is a place to go if you are hungry and in the mood for more fresh seafood, and/or to get "omiage", souveniers, for you and your loved ones, or just to take a look at a local fresh market. What's interesting is that even if you can't bring them back with you home, you can ask them to prepare fresh sashimi for you, and/or chop it up for you to be grilled for an extra fee at the restaurant/grilling area.

The access of this location is 6.5km long up hill walking from Nanao station, so it is advisable to have a car.
This castle remains was historically under possession by Hatakeyama Yoshitaka and being one of the 5 strongest mountaintop Castles in Japan in its prime in the 15th Century. Eventually the castle fell to Uesugi Shingen in 1577 after a long battle and stayed in ruins since.
There are stone walls remains and it is a good walk with this nice landscape view of Nanao city at the castle territory.

Nice rest stop on the highway. There's a nice store with many specialty foods and even gift items. The observation deck has beautiful views; in clear weather you can see all the way to the Tateyama Mountains. It was quite windy in March might be the same in summer as well due to its location.

On weekends and holidays the regular commuter train from Nanao to Anamizu turns into a sightseeing train on 4-5 runs. Some trains are designated "Sweets" trains and one is a "Sushi bento" train. The last train #5 is a sake train. The bento train is the best; you get a sushi bento with seafood sourced from the area. This train is well worth the upgrade in price from the regular commuter fare. On the Sweets train however, you get a bottle of water and three small pieces of confectionery. This train is not worth the price: take the commuter train and get the same view (which is only so-so) and save yourself possibly 2100 yen. I rode both trains, but I did not ride a sake train, so cannot speak for that one.

Bridge of about 650m of length. Please don't stop in the middle of the bridge with your car. Just before crossing from Nakajima town, there is a car park and will be able to enjoy this great view of Nanao bay.

The owner patissier is the locally born celebrity. This helped to open this contemporary high-end café in the best seaside view of this area. We loved this crispy choux a la creme as well as the good level of service.
