To see a pack of wolves howling into the wind is quite an experience.
The park is set in spacious grounds just out of the town of Merzig. We saw two packs of Arctic wolves and a pack of Swedish Wolves. The Timber wolves remained out of sight.
The park has free entry and as we went quite early we had it to ourselves, and of course canis Lupis.
Fascinating.

I've had this as a desktop picture for a while and even on a boring flat-light evening, it still looked just as good in person. Right now, the sun starts dipping behind the trees about 6:30pm, shortly before that the forest is lit up well. The free viewpoint is quite good and has a parking lot or is a short walk from town, although it could do with better placed Seating. Not sure how the Baumwipfelpfad (tree tops walk with a 5-storey viewing platform) is as it shuts at 6pm, right about when the best views would be.

Follow the road signs for Cloef and you can't miss the place. We went early-ish on a Sunday morning and managed to avoid all the crowds.
A nice, long tree-top walk with easy access for everyone leads to a spectacular viewing platform where you can observe the Saar loop. It's a nice walk through the tree tops but I don't see there being a great chance of seeing all the wildlife it tells you about.
The whole platform itself is a wonder of engineering and quite something to see; the wood and steel make a remarkable structure. It makes for a great morning out but unless you are going to take one of the walks around the area it will not fill up too much of your time; either a morning or an afternoon. Perhaps in conjunction with a visit to Berg Montclair or the many other attractions in Mettlach to fill your day

Passing on a boat we spent the morning at ' Das Bad ' The whole place was exceptionally clean and well run. Plenty of lockers and changing rooms ( unlike UK it had dry floors.) We thought you could hire towels so when we arrived without any, a kind lady employee lent us some, a nice gesture towards visitors. There were several types of pools but we particularly enjoyed a large warm outdoor pool with water jets.

Old Abbey Discovery Centre Visit the Villeroy&Boch Discovery Centre: With its scenic landscapes and diverse cultural and culinary offerings, the great Germany-France-Luxembourg border triangle is well worth a visit. A special attraction on the "Saar Loop" Like no other company, Villeroy & Boch has enhanced everyday living and quality of life for many generations with beautiful and stylish things. A visit to Mettlach's Old Abbey, the headquarters of the company founded in 1748, will take you on a very special voyage of discovery
Very interesting and intelligent content! You can have a lot of information about the history of V&B and take a look on really special and rare items.
If you are interested in Villeroy&Boch company culture and porcelain as well, I strongly reccomend you to spend several hours here.
Take note that V&B outlet center is only few steps away from Erlebniszentrum and I am sure you will be interested to spend some euros there ;-))

AS BEER STEIN COLLECTORS AND AMONG THOSE INTERESTED IN VILLEROY & BOCH PRODUCTS,WE WENT INTO THE SHOP. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.
We have toured the famous V&B factory in the past. That and the famous abbey should be the big attractions here. In bygone times,,we came to Mettlach with members of Stein Collectors International and had a grand time. Someone should get the factory listed on Tripadvisor.

Starting at the parking place at the Pfaffkirche in Mettlach, following "Tafeltour" signs you will reach this picturesque small castle after about 3,5 km of walking. The trail is quite steep, but it leads through beautiful woods with several viewing spots with benches where you can relax, if needed, so it is still enjoyable. Castle is open since April till October.
After seeing the castle you can either return back the same way, continue on Tafeltour or go downhill and come back to Mettlach along the river.
