The reserve is very nice and a worth while trip if you have a free day in Linhares our Sooretama. The restaurante is a kilo style (by weight) but quite good.

Regência is a quiet isolated village around 30km from the main road along an unpaved road. Its main claims to fame are the best Surfing in Brazil, tranquility, unpaved sandy streets, a turtle protection area, a fantastic beach and very safe from most of the dangers of modern Brazil.
We went there for a weekend in August which is the quiet season. There were maybe 20 or 30 surfers around, a couple of restaurants open during the day, a couple of very small and limited suermarkets a couple of bakeries and not much else. We did not see any street vendors, tourist shops, banks, police, beggars, newspaper shops etc. Proabably in December to February it is very different. Amazingly there is excellent phone and internet service due to a massive antenna in the middle of the village.
On Sunday evening the whole place was deserted, nothing to eat or drink or do. We half expected this and were prepared. Another guest in our poussada (without any catering) had to bang on the door of th owner's apartment and beg a Sandwich.
For surfers it is a terrific place (even if there is no surfers' shop). For others it is a love it or hate it place. I cannot image anyone giving it 3 points, it is either a 1 or a 5. We are not surfers and loved it for a weekend. I would return for three or four days. If I was going to write a novel or take up painting it would be a wondeful place for avoinding distractions.
There are lots of poussadas ranging from basic to comfortable and the prices seemed reasonable.

Recomendo a experiência.

The day we visited it was very windy and the beach itself is quite isolated and rugged. It is very rocky and swimming would be quite difficult. However it was a lovely spot to visited and far less crowded then other Portugese Beaches we have visited
