One of our favourite hang outs during our stay in Furnas. We visited here 3 times during our stay. The staff were so warm and welcoming. We immediately felt relaxed. They have an excellent selection of beers and wines. We tried the steak Sandwich, chicken Sandwich and a burger. All of which were delicious. Definitely order fries too! A warning though...The portions are huge so you definitely won't need to eat for the rest of the day! If you want a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with amazing food then this is the place to go!

Speciality "Cozido da Furnas".
We went to this restaurant in hopes to check out the local food Cozido das Furnas for a good price. Mistake. The food came already cold, half of the plate were bones and parts of meat were dry. In my opinion, for 13,50€ it was very overpriced. However, luckily we stuffed on carrot soup and goat's cheese so we didn't stay hungry. The staff was professional but cold without a hint of smile.

We visited this restaurant twice during our stay in Furnas. The first visit we wanted to try the Cozido which is the traditional dish cooked underground. This however was not possible as we were unaware you must order this 24 hours in advance. We decided to stay and order something else. I had fish which came with lots of vegetables. We also tried the limpets to start. The portions were large. The second time we visited we had the Cozido. It was delicious. However, I would prefer more vegetables as there was a lot of meat. Overall, both meals were good and the service was great.

Caldeiras & Vulcoes, located on the center of the village of Furnas! It's a familiar restaurant that keeps all the local traditions, with an amazing passion for mixing flavours and aromas that will bring the nostalgy and memories of the original and famous "Cozido das Furnas" among many other traditional plates always with a contemporary vision full of amazing sensations!
Dinner here was a superb reward for 14 km of trekking around Furman. The atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. Service was prompt and above average. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. My grilled ribs were tender and excellent. My wife had Pico de Gallo and it too was excellent.
My only complaint is not specific to this restaurant; why do all restaurant s in Sao Miguel have a TV screen on? Fortunately this restaurant had no sound with the TV and Did have very pleasant background music st low volume.

This is one of the best restaurants in the island, a place only locals frequent. Worth the trip. You will not be disappointed by the great food.

I'll echo the many other reviews as to the excellence of this restaurant. My wife and I ate here three times during our visit to Sao Miguel and specifically Povoacao where we stayed at the Hotel do Mar. Compared to the prices we pay in the USA, the food here is very inexpensive and of great taste and quality. The portions are large so for light eaters like ourselves it would have been easy to split a dinner even though we didn't. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We made it a point to choose from the Azoren menu each time and were never disappointed with our choices. You're never rushed to order and then to complete your meal when getting it. They express their desire for you to feel comfortable and enjoy your meal. In fact, each time there we had to ask for our bill. It was a great dining experience that we'll always remember.

We tasted the fameous Caldeira food, which is very nice, as their tagliatelle with lulas, and their children menu. The stuff really lovely, kind, very cool with kids and screaming babies! Surprise: with the bill, you can go in the Garden gratis! Absolutely recommended!

There are apparently 2 of these restaurants in Furnas. We ate lunch at #1. We of course came for the "cozido das Furnas", the local stew cooked in the hot springs of the Caldera nearby.
The stew was delicious and filling. It is comprised of pork, beef, chicken, sausage, cabbage, potatoes, yams and carrots, all cooked together. It goes down well with the local draft beer.
One serving is more than enough for two people. The service was fine.
