The mesmerizing view of the white desert (salt) makes you feel like walking on the cloud. A place must be visited at the right time of the year (December/January) only during the full moon. The sunset and sunrise make a grand view of the place. A must see place in your lifetime.

The Great Rann Of Kutch is located in the Thar desert in the Kutch district of Western Gujarat, India. It's a salt marshy land made up of around 30,000 sq.km of land which includes The Great Rann of Kutch, The Little Rann of Kutch & Banni Grassland. The Rann of Kutch is famous for its white salty desert and it is reputed to be one of the largest salt Deserts in the World. Availed a package trip, so, travel agent provided a deluxe bus for our group of 23 persons. Visited the place on 9th February,2018 in the evening. Best time to visit Rann of Kutch is from December to February when "The Rann Utsab" is held. During the journey, we have found many tented accommodations in the desert and mud houses also for an authentic stay for travelers. As the festival "The Rann Utsab" going on in full fledged, there were variety of food options like chaats, Gujrati snacks, thalis, kulfi, ice-cream stalls. In Exhibition center, there were displaying Gujarati handicrafts handmade by Kutchhi people with a variety of options in clothes, bags & other items such as shoes and puppets. We enjoyed the spectacular views of sunset at that place. To visit this place, you must have valid ID proof which is checked by the army official at the entry point.

This is the size which is surrounded by dessert of Kutch. Lothal site is part of this Harrapen culture excavation site. Very nice water conservation system which is more than 4500 year ago. The museum is also good. This is ruin site and it's for who interested in old history and culture.

Duttatreya temple is built at Kalo Dunger(black hill). There is a legend, that this area was infested with Jackals, people were scared of them. Lord Duttatreya called the Jackals for Prasad of sweet rice after evening Aarti. After eating Prasad they became innocuous. People say that Jackals still come to eat Prasad in evening.
We came there as part of Rann Utsav, there is a lone kirana shop, selling tea and coffee too, that was included in our trip,so we had coffee, good ,but in very tiny cup.
View from the temple is good, one sees the hill and Sunset.

In Mandvi town, virtually on the sea front, this is an excellent Memorial to the nationalist, revolutionary, lawyer and journalist Shyamji Krishna Verma, who much before his time went to England and fought for freedom right from England and when expelled from there, he continued his Mission in other countries of Europe, mainly France.
A true freedom fighter and a follower of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Shyamji was the first Bar at Law from India. He organised struggle against England. For convenience of Indian students in England he founded India House, which became centre of Freedom Struggle in England.
Before his passing away in 1930 he had made arrangement for his ashes to be preserved which was ultimately brought to India by Indian Prime Minister in 2002. An excellent memorial with audio visual documentary, paintings of famous Indian national leaders and excellent exhibition for the life and work of Shyamji was made.
An excellent place to visit which we did not know existed before we went to Kutch in January.
