Historical Local Lore Museum of Archeology and Fortification

In a part of the old Citadel is a recently restored and rather well equipped modern museum which gives a good impression of the history of Khujand and the people and rulers who lived in this part of Tajikistan. Especially interesting to visit is the basement of the museum with very large colorful stone mosaics of the life of Alexander the Great. Worthwhile is a walk in the park next to the museum in the direction of the river. Nice to see is a small building with a golden dome, which is covered by a large turquoise dome on pillars.

OK, it's really a Reservoir, but it's a nice big lake, with swimming that will help bribing down the high-90s temps you are otherwise enduring in summertime Sughd.

We had a peek in here after touring the market. Large but not overly ornate. Not that many worshipers either.

Park Kamal Khudzhandi

Reviewed By Michael R - Rottenbach, Germany

Mausoleum of Sheik Muslekheddin

Reviewed By Michael R - Rottenbach, Germany
