Always a pleasure to find a restaurant that allows you a cosy corner to eat and chat with friends. This restaurant has a lovely old bar next to it where you can have an aperitif and rendezvous and enjoy the views along Rappenburg, one of the loveliest scenes in Leiden. Despite its name Entry Forbidden, Verboden Toegang is the opposite, a delight to enter, a delight to eat well cooked food. The white fish [ I think it was Hake] was perfectly cooked - succulent and tender. The plate of carpaccio of beef was also beautifully displayed and succulent. When food is delicious in texture and flavour then you know there is a good chef.

Popped in for a drink on a cycle ride around the area. Lovely spot on the edge of the lake. Reasonably priced cocktails, Limoncello Spritzer €5.50.

Restaurant Allemansgeest nestled amongst the country on a unique location along the Vliet in Voorschoten. The history-rich restaurant is housed in a listed building and has recently been completely modernized and tastefully contemporary. There is a large Terrace, an orangery, a historic upper room, private parking and a pier for boats. The restaurant has been designated by the municipality Voorschoten as an official wedding location. The chef and his brigade let you enjoy tradition of fine French cuisine. The menu includes many classics and works with fresh seasonal products. Daily nice Menu du Chef is formed. You are Tuesday / Sunday welcome for both lunch and dinner. The restaurant is also ideal for private gatherings, meetings or celebrations. Perfect hospitality, ambience and quality are the ingredients that make a visit to Restaurant Allemansgeest a real experience!
Located just by the water, this restaurant offers a lovely view and beautiful Terrace.

The restaurant is in a stately old building in the heart of Voorschoten. There are different "rooms" each with its own charm and atmosphere. The service is professional and all the dishes are carefully explained and served with wine to compliment the food. On request they serve vegetarian food. We chose the four course menu (with wines) and loved the detail in presentation and special flavours of the different elements of the dishes. It is truly beautiful food! This is a gorgeous restaurant to celebrate a special occassion or to spend quality time with family and friends. Booking is essential.

Delicious self serve lunch. Primarily mature and elderly crowd, so it was quiet and relaxed, clean and orderly, with fresh and relatively healthy choices. Plenty of staff on hand to refresh dishes and clear dirty plates.
Yummy food with Dutch classic choices including chocolade vla, quark, baars, lovely tiny baked potatoes, salads, smoked salmon, .... and of course great coffee. Relatively reasonably priced and hence good value especially if you're hungry :)
The outside and I side Seating was plentiful and varied, catering for all needs and wants and the official entrance is plush, luxurious and stylishly decorated, giving a nice initial impression that you're entering a quality establishment... and so you are!

The food was imaginatively presented but I found that something was missing. Perhaps too many little touches ended up making the food a little bland ? That said the quality and presentation is of very high standard and I would certainly return, perhaps choosing something else next time. My lunch partners were delighted with their choices by the way.

Our family loves Indian food and it doesn't get any better than this! We tried four different currys. They were very different yet all exceptionally tasteful.

Gezellige knusse bistro voor de lunch of diner in het historisch hart van leiden
Been here before, situated in the city center of Leiden, in a nice ally with little boutiques, near the beautiful st Pieters church.
Hot and cold lunch menus. We ate a delicious typical Italian caprese salad, freshly made. And a aubergine/ eggplant salad. With freshly squeezed orange juice and good strong espresso. We'll come again!

We enjoyed a tasty pancake lunch here, washed down with some good local beer. The pancake menu is very extensive, but there are also some other dishes available too. The pancakes are about 40cm across and served on very large plates decorated with typical blue/white patterns. Service was friendly and nice, although a bit slow at times (we were in a side room and it seemed we were out of sight, out of mind). But overall, a good experience.
