Quite nice view to the River of Sir-Darya. Can recommend to have traditional food in there. This is what they can do.

People in Tajikistan prefer extreme sweet Deserts and oily food, which cause them have huge possibility to have serious tooth decay and obesity problems.
The owner,Mauzuna, notices this situation and tries to open a restaurant for locals to have a new idea about diet.
That was my first time to try Turkish food but it reminded me the time back to the healthy food restaurants in Taiwan.
Every dish I ordered(I'd been there for several times),they all were fat-light and green. It was really hard to find such food in Khujand then.
The cook,Mahmud,is from Turkey. When he had free time,he always came to the dining area to help the staff and try to ask for advice of the dishes.
This is a whole new restaurant in Khujand. If I have time to go back,I'll definitely visit again.

We were walking a lot around Khujand looking for a decent place to eat and luckily we found this filled-with-locals eatery just a short walk from the main Lenin street.
It serves a range of brilliant shashlyks (chicken, Turkey, lamb & beef) for 8-9 somoni, which is less than 2 usd, accompanied by a beer for 3-6 somoni or shots of vodka if you'd like.
It's not a fancy restaurant but a nice unpretentious and safe local place perfect if you don't want to spend a fortune or end up in a fake KFC.
Can happily recommend it to all travelers!

I had two great dinners here - the chachavili and the overly-dry chicken in a walnut sauce (sacivi?). the service was great. The chachavili was truly amazing. The salads were fantastic. The portions are generous.
If you are staying at the Grand Hotel, you can spend 60 som/dinner here.
The breakfasts can be missed. I ate here three mornings. The coffee is instant. The bread is old. The omelettes are oily.

The architecture is extraordinary - truly a place of historical nature. The service was also superb with very welcoming staff and administrators.
