Great castle (one reviewer here wrote that it was a ruin and he couldn't recommend it to others - what exactly did he expect?!), amazing views and well worth a visit.

Take a look around one of Scotland's oldest working Distilleries and discover the history and traditions of single malt scotch whisky. The GlenDronach distillery has been creating the finest sherried single malts for nearly 200 years. Our visitor centre and gift shop are open with guided distillery tours running regularly throughout the day.
We visited as part of a National Holidays coach tour and were given a guided tour by the lovely Karen.
The tour was very educational and Karen proved very knowledgeable and passionate about the quality of the product they made and supplied.
She prompted up to ask questions and she answered them with flair and thoroughness providing some amazing statistics in the process.
Do avail yourself of the chance to ask as she's a mine of information!
The tour does require one to be able to climb steps as that's an integral part of the way the building is constructed to accommodate the huge vessels and equipment but the less able in our party all managed with a little help.
The tour ended at the tasting room with a video showcasing the history of the distillery and a timeline board adorning the walls.
A dram of the 12 year old single malt is supplied to tempt you to buy and like us, you'll realise the quality and indulge in A Wee Dram O' Sunshine!

One of the oldest working Distilleries in Scotland (although probably second oldest to Glen Garioch), we took the Straight from the Cask (Connoisseur Tour) in this quaint distillery. Sadly, it was an eclectic collection of various Chivas Bros. distillery bottles and not really a Strathisla distillery tasting...

According to an NTS leaflet we got at Crathes Castle (which was lovely) Leith Hall would be open from 10.30-4.30pm, so we were surprised when we arrived at 3.45pm to be told we couldn't see the house because the last tour was at 3.30pm and it had been full anyway. We were disappointed so mentioned the leaflet opening hours to the girl on the desk who was incredibly rude. She actually said it wasn't her problem and we should have been better organised if we wanted to see the property! If you're planning to visit you should also be aware there's only 1 tour every hour and only 10 people are allowed to go on it so you should probably book in advance. The most serious issue however was the 2 steps by the front door. The lower one was concealed by a mat which ran beyond the step on to the drive and as I exited the property it wasn't obvious there was a second shallow step and I went over on my ankle and fell into the gravel drive. An x-ray has shown my left ankle is fractured. Hopefully NTS will either remove the mat or put up a warning sign. Apparently I'm the only one who has fallen foul of this step and it wasn't identified in their Property risk assessment so perhaps I'm very stupid or unlucky but I think it's worth watching out for. I can't review the house as I never got to see it but I'd recommend Crathes or Fyvie (also NTS) as alternatives - you'll get to see them, the staff were lovely and they didn't have any concealed steps.

Visited today and was blessed with nice weather which is great for Scotland. Admission price was very reasonable. The birds were beautiful to see and the flying demonstration was excellent. The young lady was knowledgable and gave a lovely flying display. The cafe, gift shop and toilets were all nice. The only thing that might have enhanced our visit would have been more information as to what species we were looking at. All very lovely, but what type of bird was it? Would certainly recommend and will certainly visit again.

When in Aberdeenshire you must visit the Linden Tree in Huntly. The owners, Ingrid and Neil Binning will give you a very warm welcome and you will be delighted with the diverse range of products on display. A destination visit!

Friendly welcome, nice course - parkland, good value for money. You dont need to go to the fancy, expensive courses when you find courses like this. The only downside was that the bar was closed, and no well deserved meal & beer after the round. But We liker the course.

We are a gift shop selling hand crafted gifts, collectables, clothing, accessories and musical instruments which have been made from eco-friendly and recycled materials. We also sell the work of over 40 local crafters and artists. We have a crafters workshop called "The Back Room" which is for folk to come and try out a craft. We also have a coffee shop on-site called "The Front Room" where we sell fairtrade tea, coffee and snacks. We do not prepare food here but you are welcome to bring your own lunch! There is also a gallery and exhibition space too. We are dog friendly so your best friend is also welcome.
Lots of great things in here, ideal go-to shop in Huntly for buying a gift, though I just bought treats for myself! Good selection of delicious Divine fairtrade chocolate. Will be back for tea in the front room.
