You’ll probably know about the steps you have to navigate, but it’s worth it.
Doesn’t overly exert you and there were people of all ages making the trip when we were there.
Allow a couple of hours, take plenty of water and make sure your phone is charged for the photo’s.

Wiliam Guilfoyle did a great job designing these majestic, small but shaded Botanic Gardens.
I liked the aviary and the peacocks as reminiscent of earlier times. The lake is great, as is the large number of mature trees.
It is an easy walk from the railway station where V/Line coaches from Ballarat, Mount Gambier, Casterton and Warrnambool congregate.
In 2020, the Gardens will be 150 years old.

Best viewed after rain when the summer time trickle turns into a massive flow as the Wannon River passes over the rock ledge.
The viewing platform is wheelchair accessible and, when it is not too crowded, the falls can be viewed without leaving the vehicle.
There is a large grassed area ideal for family picnics or barbecues.
Overnight camping is NOT permitted.
Photographers: The sun shines onto the falls rock face in the afternoon.
Nigretta Falls is only a short drive from the Wannon Falls - best viewed in the morning and again, after rain - where camping is permitted (unpowered sites).

Whereas Nigretta Falls, further upstream, cascades over several levels, Wannon Falls is a sheer drop from a single rock ledge overhanging a cavern gouged out by roaring waters over thousands of years. Spectacular in full flow. Watch from the safety of the viewing platform, then adjourn to the pleasant picnic area. Camping is permitted nearby. Located just off the Glenelg Highway and well signposted.

What a wonderful place, so full of many of my childhood memories. We were greeted by two lovely ladies who helped out with our questions. We spent nearly an hour wandering around the displays. What an inspirational man was Sir Ansett. His motto... persistence and determination will get you anywhere.
P.S..... loved the orange uniforms from the 70’s.

Love to walk around each day when l visit Hamilton. Do so early morning or evenings. Have been lucky enough to see koalas sitting in the gun trees over the water on my morning walks. And the sun sets are a sight to behold. Love this space

Hamilton Gallery’s collection is celebrated for its exceptional breadth and quality. The decorative arts collection, and eighteenth century works on paper, such as watercolour landscapes by Paul Sandby (1731-1809), make Hamilton Gallery a leading regional gallery in Australia. The collection includes works by major European and Australian artists. Contemporary Australian paintings form an impressive area of display. Our glass collection spans all major European glass producing traditions, with a particularly strong representation of Scandinavian glass. The Asian art collection which began with the Herbert and May Shaw Bequest (1957) now rivals some State Gallery collections. In Chinese ceramics each of the major dynasties are represented, and contemporary Japanese ceramics are a collection highlight. Our European porcelain, stoneware and earthenware show the major stylistic and technical developments from the sixteenth century to today. It is now sixty years since the core collection was bequeathed to the people of Hamilton.

Have been to a few special Exhibitions of different artists. Simply set out for easing viewing without being overcrowded. Plenty of time to look and contemplate. Warm, comfortable atmosphere and the chance to see some great art works for free. A donation is always acceptable and worth it for the privilege. Have had the opportunity previously to go behind the scenes where art and artefact collections are stored so private tours have been available in the past. A wonderful assett for Hamilton.

Ignore the reviews complaining that it wasn't open. Some people dont read the notice - if unattended, ring ******.
We did, and the owner was there in 5 minutes and we had as long as we wanted there. Its a large collection and if you lioke cars, go here!
The owner Mr Campe was interesting and we had a good chat and a bit of a guided tour.
Recommended!!

Modern and clean, this little cinema was a revelation! So was the pricing. $9.50 for children - of any age! Great value if you've got a teenager, appalling if you've got a 2 year old. Saving grace was being offered a booster seat for the little one to sit on - for the price you'd think it was to keep! Still a very nice cinema, won't be visiting again as a family, way too expensive by country standards but would go with other adults.

I called into the visitor information centre and was met with a warm welcoming smile and offer of assistance and support. Great effort to a weary traveller on an extremely warm summers day. Clean amenities, lots of brochures and local information available. I would recommend you call in if visiting and looking for local area attractions including Warrnambool, Port Fairy, Koroit and Portland regions.
