This venue has been run by the same lovely lady for about 30 years. It's located in a beautiful old building and when we visited for breakfast the place was bustling and cosy. The menu had some really good choices for breakfast and our food...MoreWow !!!!! Thankyou , we all love what we do & truly appreciate that you have taken the time to write this review. Cheers Carmel

Dined here for lunch with visiting relatives and were all satisfied with our meals, which were a mix of Vietnamese and Australian dishes.
We used an Entertainment Book digital voucher, but the person serving us somehow (perhaps deliberately), switched to another restaurant after I'd handed over my phone, so we were unable to use the voucher at that restaurant.

Dine in air conditioned comfort on a sunny afternoon or under the stars in the evening. Serving Breakfast, lunch and dinner in a spacious light filled glass roofed conservatory in the historic courtyard of Craig’s Royal Hotel. The perfect place for informal dining. A fine selection of beverages featuring the best of local, regional, Australian and international wines is available - with many by the glass and priced to suit the everyday diner. Open for Breakfast from 7am and lunch and dinner every day of the week. Reservations are recommended - Phone
The restaurant is situated in a glassed covered court yard and is light and cheery.

The best breakfast place in Ballarat
Came for breakfast with family on a Saturday. I had he scrambled eggs and toast with bacon, which was very good (especially the bacon), by others in the party had he French toast and the pancakes which looked (and by their accounts tasted) amazing. The coffee was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back.

Have been going to L’espresso for many years from Melbourne, now living up here.
It is one of the best and most popular cafes in Ballarat. The coffee is great the food reasonably priced and great cakes made on the premises. It is not very large and tables are on top of each other , so not so good for conversation. The service and quality of the food make up for any short comings. Also was lovely experience and we keep going back .

We use only the finest fresh ingredients available and each dish is prepared individually with great care and attention. We also use our very own freshly ground spices and pastes which give our dishes their wonderful, aromatic flavour and individuality - our qualified Chef from India is a specialist in Mughlai Indian barbecue with variation of over 125 spices. View our menu for our full range of dishes available.
The food was pretty good, and the service shone. We tried a couple of the chef's specials rather than the standard fare and were rewarded by it being a delicious and refreshing change of pace. The staff was lovely.

Our grandfather Frank was a well-known Blacksmith in the Ballarat region, and at the heart of a Blacksmith's shop is a fire they call the Forge. With a combination of the fire, great skill and plenty of hard work, great things are created. Take a look at our wood fire oven and you'll know why we are "The Forge". Established in 2010 by brothers Chris and Tim Matthews, The Forge Pizzeria creates delicious woodfired pizzas made with fresh local produce and high quality deli ingredients. We pride ourselves on pizza perfection, passion and a fun laid-back atmosphere. There is a fully serviced 200 seat restaurant in Armstrong Street, Central Ballarat, which complements the 20 seat take-away store in Sturt Street, Alfredton. We also now have two rolling mobile pizza ovens which operate at various events and private functions. Once your pizza is ordered, its action a plenty. Using our fresh healthy dough recipe, the stretcher starts stretching the base, great viewing in itself. The makers add the right amount of ingredients, which have all been freshly prepared on our premises, into the woodfire oven and then the magic happens. Fresh, healthy and woodfired.
A very pleasant surprise. Friendly, welcoming and efficient service. A very busy night when we arrived, we thought we'd be waiting hungrily for a while. But attendance and meal brought in surprisingly quick time.
Our pizzas were tasty, fresh and delicious. An appealing pizza menu selection. The usual few standards and some interesting gourmet inclusions.
All wonderful, and overall a positive visit. Our only fault might be the tiny single scoop gelato serve. On the very small size.
Would definitely visit again.

We made a last minute decision to dine at Kambei. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. All the adults ordered the Kambei course and was enjoyed by all. Thank you for a great evening.

Warm up from the inside out at BrownGrain Thai Restaurant, authentic Thai recipes- with a modern twist. Just opposite Town Hall.
We were told, before offered a table, that we need to get out by 8pm, it was 5:45pm and the restaurant was empty. This was all because we didn’t book and it was fully booked by 8pm. Nevermind, we were pleased that there was a separate Vegan menu, not just a couple of vegan variation dishes we have to choose from. However, the inexperienced staff doesn’t know how to serve customer and at the end, a takeaway container will cost 50 cent extra. There was no sign for the container costs. Therefore, this is the best way to make an announcement that it is not as good as most of the review stated. We have had better experiences elsewhere.

A modern wine bar and urban cellar door with a focus on the Mitchell Harris Wines range, and wine selections from Western Victoria and further afield. Classic bar food along with sumptuous feature dishes. A relaxed contemporary vibe, in a classic old Ballarat 1890s produce store and workshop.
A fortuitous parking spot and a spare hour lead us to this wine bar. We tried a glass of the Mitchell Harris rose (great value and highly recommended!) then decided to have a quick bite to eat. The wine waiter wasn't very knowledgeable about the menu, unable to tell me if the smoked trout salad was gluten-free. Thankfully he sent Julia, a waitress with a much better understanding of my dietary issues. She recommended the gluten free pizza, which was very tasty and my partner had the regular pizza with slow-cooked lamb and fetta. When he mentioned to Julia that it was actually chicken on the pizza, not lamb, she instantly responded by taking the price of it off our bill. We will definitely try here again and hope that Julia is working!
