Enceinte fortifiee de la Haute ville de Granville

Reviewed By Blumit

Coastal city of Granville is simply stunning. I love these stone buildings, view on the sea, cliffs. Everything is super compact and somehow homie. Definitely worth to take a walk there, then go down to beach to collect some shells, watch the water rise.
Strangely enough parking on the top of the hill next to the church is free of charge.

Musee Christian Dior

Dior's childhood mansion with a restored garden.

Reviewed By Lianne H - Windsor, United Kingdom

There is a constant queue outside this place because they only allow 50 people in at a time. Once in it makes sense as it is basically a large house over three floors. Very interesting though we didn't learn that much about Dior himself and his work, more about subsequent Dior designers. The garden is beautiful and has ravishing views over the sea. You can get into the garden for free. Don't buy the DVD Dior et moi from here, we paid 37 euros for it and saw it for 13 euros 2 days later. Worth watching though.

Discover the Chausey Island with a guide is a great opportunity : you can walk all around the island with great talks about the place, the history,... You will see lots of wild animals (birds, fishes,....) and if you dare, you can taste some fresh clams ! I wish I made the 2 tours : the morning tour is on the island, the afternoon tour is around the island, on the sand, near the sea. I recommand this little Island, a well hidden gem !

Musee d'Art Moderne Richard Anacreon

Reviewed By alex t - Granville, France

A lovely modern little Museum not Tate Modern, but a pleasant experience. There is normally a well presented special as well as a permanent small exhibition. Richard Anacreon, was a collector and seller of art and books in Paris he was a great friend of Collet ( and many of the great artists of the day ) and her little room and writing desk is on show as well as a representation of his shop front. He had a little summer house along the coast, which is sadly private, in St Jean le Thomas. Well worth a visit with lunch in a creperie to follow.

Whilst staying in Jersey for five days, had decided to take a day trip to Guernsey and had in advance sought an alternative ferry service to other ferry operator who provides services between the UK and the Channel Islands, thinking somebody else could do better, sadly it was not the case. Full marks to the check-in ladies both at St Helier and St Peters Port, they were a credit to the company, but zero marks for the condition of the ferry, broken seats, sharp edges left protruding, missing signage and defective exit signs, so you start thinking if the standard is not being kept up internally, what`s the rest of the ferry like as in maintaining the engines and the overall safety of the ferry. Yes, the outward crossing was very rough, part ferry design and part the rough seas, they are things you have to accept, the return leg was smooth. But the St Peters Port Ferry terminal was chaos, party of French schoolchildren who had been camping in Guernsey was travelling back on our Ferry carrying everything including large cooking pans and trays containing opened boxes of breakfast cereals, it proved too much for the States of Guernsey border security in reality G4S, they proved just how ineffective their security is, eventually the children are in the waiting area along with five hundred other people waiting to board one of two Ferries both schedule to depart at the same time from adjacent gates, who dreamt this nonsense up? The toilets once again all closed in the waiting area. We were allowed to board, but then no you cannot sit there, here, well where do you want us to sit? well we have reserved these seats for the schoolchildren, but your Seating is not designed to accept Reservations, so how does anyone know what`s reserved? Why not allocate the entire centre row of seats for example to accommodate them, too simple, then we wait for the pots, the pans, tents and the rest before we set sail. On arrival at Jersey, passengers seeking onward travel to France were allow to disembark first in order to go to the booking hall and obtain tickets, those leaving the ferry at Jersey were told to sit and wait, all totally wrong, when we told to disembark we could not get through the exits as the booking hall was full of those people wanting tickets to travel to France who had been told to get off first, it was slow going as they only found one member of staff to handle their ticket requests. The very serious point here, safety on all accounts, firstly, no border or security staff anywhere, people when unchecked and congestion was caused by actions of the Ferry Crew. On leaving the Ferry one of the Harbour team said "well at least you got here, it makes a change, despite the fiasco and went on to suggest if the Ferry ever berthed at a UK Port, Department of Trade Inspectors would no doubt impound it ." Well, one trip with this poorly run company is more than enough any person.

Plage du Plat Gousset

Reviewed By Pascal F - Geneva, Switzerland

Swim during low tides in the sea or in the swimming pool (carved and usable during low tides only) or spend time on high tides in the tunnels under the boardwalk. Kids love it, escaping from the rolling waves climbing the paths and the stairways. and listening to the echoes of their cries of joy and laughs. Be careful it can be dangerous and kids should be accompanied by adults. Otherwise just watch waves crash on the boardwalk.
From the end of the boardwalk, stairways go directly to the Jardins and Musee Christian Dior. Nice attraction too.

Marks the end of Granville old town, and the northern end of Mont St. Michel Bay. There is nothing to obstruct the view of the Bay, and towards Chausey Isles, so the view is superb. Free car parking facilities, and picnic area. A camera is a must. I would love to visit on a stormy day, that would be an incredible sight!

We didn't expect to find much of interest for the price of the ticket, but spent two hours in this little three-storey house, looking at paintings, amazing old head-dresses, old kitchen equipment, a lovely detailed model of the port, post cards... a very educational visit. But make sure it's going to be open!

We spent only about 1.5 hours here but all the family really enjoyed it - being a little different from just a small aquarium. It was also raining so a good place to stop while in Granville. The actual aquarium is quite small but good....MoreThank you very much and we hope to see you again !
