Serenely spiritual Dharamsala is home to the largest Tibetan temple outside of Tibet. It’s known for its religious iconography and is the monastery of the Dalai Lama, who holds public lectures a few times a year. Once you’ve restored your spiritual energy, enjoy a picturesque stroll to Bhagsu Waterfall or climb the hill to Triund to bask in stunning views of the Himalayas.

Grade: Moderate McLeod Ganj to Triund 2800 mtrs, 9 kms gradual trek. The trek offer panoramic views Bhagsu village, McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala valley and distant views of Shivalik hills and plains of Kangra valley. The trek is moderate nature. Triund is a large land of green grass and pasture like. One can see the mighty Dhauladhar ranges just above the eyes. This is the base camp and climatization point for trekkers climbing the Inderahara point in the Mt. Dhauladhar.

This institute is dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan culture.
This is an institute where various crafts are being taught to the Tibetian youth both males and females. The crafts include wood work arts, painting, embroidery, doll making etc., etc..The entire location is beautifully maintained with Fountains, flower Gardens and decorative structures. it is a very big complex at the end of which is a beautiful Monastery. There is a doll Museum which is very great and the history of tibet is shown through beautiful dolls which you should never miss. The students are so much engrossed in their training, and our presence will never disturb them. This is a must visit place while at Dharamshala.
The visiting hours are from 9-00 am to 05-30 pm. The monastery will be open beyond 5-30 pm also. there is also a restaurant which is open from 7-00 am to 9-30 pm.

This is a well organised, thoughtfully laid out museum which gives any visitor the Dharamsala an insight into the history of Chinese repression of the Tibetan people and the story of the exiles here and in other parts of the world. The captions are in English but it would be good if they were in Chinese as well!

This monastery is beautiful to see and experience, since not a lot of people go there, its quieter. The monastery is a bit different from the Dalai lamma Temple Complex.

As I stayed for 5 days in the upper Dharamshala( Mcleodganj), I visited this temple complex three times as it is also of walking distance from the Hotel Himview, where I had stayed while at McLeod Ganj. it looked more of a big building when you look at it from the roadside but once you go inside, it has a sprawling complex where hostels for monks are provided, A Museum on tibet, conference room and a twin Monastery for Buddha. On the first day when i went there around 11 a.m, I was impressed by the young monks ( age group from may be 8 years to 16 years) indulging in some special exercises.
The location of the temple complex is on the ridge of the hill top and so the view from there was spectacular. The Monastery itself was very great and no words to describe it. You have to see it. On the third day when I went there there was a conference with the title' 'Mind and life XXXIII Reimagining Human flourishing' headed by his holiness Dalai lama.

There are many view points on the routes to Dharamsala and Macleodganj to view the sheer beauty of this mountain range...I was lucky that one day I got to photograph snow covered peaks which will live in my memory forever.

The stadium offers great view of lush green field in lap of Himalayas. It's a must visit place if you are coming to Dharmshala or McLeod Ganj.
However, the visitors stand of stadium is not well maintained. There was no cleanliness. There were empty bottles and wrappers all around the stand.
It is close to Shaheed Smarak Park.

The religious monument is constructed on a steep hillside in the shadow of Dhauladhars. There is a beautiful figurine at the Gompa. The monument can be reached by heading on a trail from Dalai Lama’s temple complex. Powerful and Yet Peaceful. What Hon. Dalai Lama stands for, what. Buddhist people are.
