Pondicherry’s bougainvilleas, crumbling cathedrals and leafy boulevards might occasionally make you wonder if you’re in the south of France instead of a former French colony. But it's also unmistakably Indian, with colorful festivals, the famous monument of Aayi Mandapam, and the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Quiet beaches stretch north and south from town, good for swimming and sunrise strolls.

I had a special lunch in this restaurant and the taste of the food was good. It comes with a soup and an ice cream. The hospitality and the ambience were good too. I had a tasty sweet lassi that was delicious.

I was really looking forward to eating here because I had read some good reviews, but my sister and I were very disappointed. The service was ok and the seafood platter entree was very nice (999 rupees) but my salmon and my sisters calamari was really overcooked. We couldn't eat the calamari as it was like rubber. I had wanted lobster thermidor, but it was 1750 rupees for 250gms. We certainly wouldn't visit again.

The restaurant of VILLA SHANTI splits into two parts, one opens on the patio with the vertical garden, and the other air conditioned located in the old building. We decided to focus on quality, freshness and seasonal products. We try to find them among small local vendors, favouring those who respect organic farming.Timings : 12:00 - 23:00 hrs (Last Order at 22:30 hrs)The cafe bar, situated opposite the patio and vertical garden offers snacks from Indian streets & sandwiches. You may also choose to have your meals, enjoy a cocktail made up from fresh fruit juices, listen to music, or simply read a book from our library. Timings : 10:00 - 23:00 hrs (Last Order at 22:30 hrs. Pre booking highly recommanded especially during week end or public holidays
Lovely modern-restored space. Service excellent. Food is well considered and a good value. Lunch starts at 12:30. Bread with roulade before meal a treat. Not moved by food but enjoyed beef patty with well matched sauce, beef loin and creative and beautiful soup of day.

We bake delicious authentic Italian pizzas with homemade ingredients that are freshly prepared in our kitchen everyday. Our pizzas go up up to three feet in size and have very very generous servings of cheese and toppings. We give you the best value for money without compromising on quality. Our menu has over 75 pizzas, 20 pastas and very delicious salads mostly made from our own recipes.
Well made pizzas. For us Chennai residents craving really good pizza-and rarely finding it, we were pleasantly surprised. Large will be familiar to NY take away pizza lovers size-wise-big table covering aluminium pan holding the just out of the oven pie. Enough good cheese. Sauce could have more tomato zing. Pepperoni not quite there. But still we happily and quickly devoured the Papa Pepperoni. Vegetalina was ok.

As with all CGH Earth hotels, local sourcing makes for variety and freshness. This is particularly true of our sea food at Palais de Mahe. Our chefs personally select the day's serving from the incoming boats at the harbor nearby, planning their recipes according to the catch of the day.
Exquisite meal of locally cooked fish, lemon tart, real expresso and 3 lemon mojitos. Such a great place and food; tasty drinks and impeccable service from our accomplished and attentive waiter, Praveeen. Very polished and excellent English. Thank you. Made a lovely change from the otherwise excellent food we have had elsewhere on our trip, but, it was just great to have tablecloths for a nice change. Well done to all of the kitchen staff and to Praveen. Good man. Good lemon mojitos ! Highly recommend. Wish was staying longer in Pondi, to return here. Ah well, another year.

Near ICICI Bank, off Indira Gandhi square.
Browsing the web on places of interest, got to read raving reviews of this local joint specialising in non-vegetarian.
But commuting to the place was an ordeal as the place was all mixed-up on Google-Map. Yet with some roadside inquiring we reached this place.
The outside parking easily accessible, One is ushered in to a minimalist local looking sitting, which kind of Put-off the youngsters. But the proof of the pudding is in eating it.
The non-vegetarian’s delight... the finger-licking biryanis. Dry dishes like prawn masala and fish kamatchi is unbelievably Marvellous.
Please do not hope for great ambience or fine -dining experience..but the turnover of the place is enormous... nothing can be expected to be not fresh.
Non-south Indian speaking visitors must ask for a English speaking attendants or else you shall run the risk of opting for the non-specialities.
The sea-food is hands-down a winner!

Unique cafe in set in a French art-deco house, featuring works of local and European contemporary artists. Serves one the best French and Continental food in town, with free wi-fi.
The Cafe is located in the French Quarter on La Bourdonnais street & has become the fave of the expat crowd.I discovered by chance & on entering the gate i had to walk up the narrow green the shrub lined path on to a lovely small courtyard with graffiti painted along with other paintings most belonging to various times conveying various themes.Saw in front shady trees forming a canopy topped with Bougainvillea flowers.
One can have B`fast & lunch & snacks with coffee & tea.For b`fast i chose Creole salad, creppe & salad with cheese & tomatoes & along with some excellent coffee. There are also other items like Baguette & croissant Sandwiches, pasta etc.The prices are medium,Wi-Fi is free & there is no aircon & the Cafe closes by 6pm.

Fabulous service, fantastic food.
My two boys, wife and I ate several meals at this quaint charming place by the Serenity beach and were never disappointed. It's a bit slow and because the ingredients are fresh and cooking top notch it's worth the wait. We would rate it as the top spot to eat at while in Pondicherry ...Just don't go there if you are in a rush..
