We came across this local sightseeing activity as in order to reach our accommodation in Ano Gatzea (mainland Greece) we had to drive over the railway line for a short distance! The journey starts in Lechonia and stops at Ano Gatzea where we picked it up and finishes at Milies which is a beautiful town in the Pelion Penninsular. There are only about 4 carriages and if you haven't booked a seat or boarded at the start, only standing room is available outside of the carriages. It isn't a problem and quite safe as the train just chugs along. It takes about 40 minutes to reach Millies from Ano Gatzea along a winding track with glorious views of the coastline below. The whole trip costs about €12.00, our part of the journey cost €6.00. I would not advise a return trip. Most take a one way trip either way and taxi back. We decided to walk back! It is a recognised walk and is basically all alongside the railway line. Well.......! It took us 2.5 hours to get back to base, all the time walking in about 37 d Celsius! That was madness in retrospect! However we had filled up our water bottles and although the walk is not hard, it is basically straight, it is at times walking on the line or alongside so there are lots of gravel issues etc. The walk was 9 kms in the heat of the day! As the saying goes "mad dogs and Englishmen"!

Just another beach in the Aegean sea. Nothing special, rocky ground, a bit windy usually. There are hundreds of more beautiful Beaches around Greece. This one is privileged with the fame of "Mama Mia", part of which was shot there. If you are curious, just stay for a few hours and leave. Nothing special to eat or do. Locals are not polite.

Sea Kayak & SUP Activities Shakayak is a business of sea activities in east Pelion, Greece. Starting from Damouchari bay, we do both guided tours and rentals of Kayak and SUP equipment. Our goal is to give Pelion visitors an alternative perspective of the coastal landscape.
This tour, with Shakayak, goes through the beautiful scenery between Damouchari and Fakistra Beaches. Elias, their great guide, took us into caves and beneath rocks, where we were paddling through narrow passages. We all had wonderful 4 hours - a family with three kids, aged 8, 13 and 15. The tour includes nice meal on the beach and the price is fair!

Pelion Secrets (Sea Kayaking), the sea activities centre in Pelion, Greece. We are a social cooperative offering genuine hospitality, quality equipment and an amazing place to paddle, relax & have fun. We look forward to your visit to Pelion, the mountain of Centaurs, the summer residence of the 12 Gods. Today it has become one of the best places to visit all year round with no mass tourism.
We took the 2 hour trip, had a very good briefing by Giorgos, very friendly in perfect English, to the point on safety and procedures and also suitable for children. All equipment provided and very well maintained. But the most exciting part came then, along the beautiful shoreline of Pelion, along hidden Beaches and a stop at a beach for a well deserved rest and an apple from Zagora...this together with the tongue in cheek humor of Giorgos made it a day to remember. Furthermore there are some good taverna's and Beaches nearby. Also a parking next to the kayaking is available.

You may wonder why this bar deserves a mention over many others but for us it was the friendly welcome and the range on offer from traditional greek coffee and Ouzo to sophisticated cocktails all served with a smile and proper service. We walked quite a distance from nearby Koropi to have an early evening drink here and were never disappointed. They braved the Thunder storms very well and still kept on serving.
For those of you who like real ale (yes - 'real ale') the bar also serves three bottled organic beers by 'Septem', a microbrewery on the isle of Evvia and I particularly recommend the Pale Ale as a refreshing starter to your evening. Don't feel bad about travelling all that way and then drinking this beer - they are proud of it and want you to try it. Good bar and good staff - highly recommended.

On the road from Milina to Trikeri will see the picturesque bay of Tzasteni with gorgeous little beach
A quarter of a century ago, when I saw cover page of some brochures about Pelion first thought was - some kind of photomontage.
So, I promised myself I would go there and see it in reality.
Years have passed... Tale of the various places, towns, landscapes ... but this picture was not fading.
Finally - I stood and watched from the road above.
Nearby were two ladies, Parisians.
Good way to check. Is it just me the one who sees that beauty...
No, we shared the same excitement.
What to say? It's difficult to transfer all impressions.
I finally found what I'll buy when I win a lottery.
