The food was really good. Price on the high side. Had delicious venison with asparagus and rot kraut really really good. The wine selection was quite limited but ok. Dessert assortment was also good for the size of the menu. Highly recommended if you do not mind paying 65 Euros per person for dinner

We had eaten at The Weisser Hirsch on a a previous visit to Wernigerode in May and , on the recommendation of friends, decided to stay there on this visit. We found the staff to be polite, efficient and helpful and our room was well prepared, clean and tidy.Unfortunately it was also near the road - so we were wakened early one morning - by the noisy bin collection outside.
The restaurant meal was well prepared, well served, tasted excellent and enjoyed by all of us.
It was, therefore, a disappointment to my wife not to be able to get a coffee later on in the bar one evening - not everyone wants to drink alcohol.
Breakfast was also a little disappointing, with the coffee sometimes not as hot as it should be, nor some of the cooked items being as hot as would be expected.

All of the food is wonderful; it was so difficult to choose, I wanted to try one of everything. Incredible sushi, brilliant soups & appetizers. My only complaints are that the lights are too harsh and the noise from the kitchen is pretty loud.

This was our first meal in Wernigerode. The food was good but not great, however the service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Prices were reasonable.

Well ... this restaurant was recommended on Tripadvisor, but our experience was really disappointing unfortunately. While we agree with most of the other reviewers on the nice atmosphere (the walls were plastered with old newspapers), our food was below average: tough meat with hardly any taste, WAY too salty sauce and undercooked potatoes ... My vegetables were clearly not fresh at all and covered in something unpleasant.
To make things worse: my wife felt sick until 12 hours after her meal.
Maybe it was just bad luck, but we imagined something else before we entered this 'little paradise'.

I am so disappointed that we wasted a vacation meal here. To be fair, I'll start with the positive aspects. The waitress was polite and attentive. She was very patient with our terrible German skills. The location is nice and the Trocken Dornfelder was good. Unfortunately, those are the only nice things I have to say. The Weiss Spargel soup was terrible. It was glutinous and gloppy in texture, It had no discernable spargel flavor and was incredibly SALTY. If it had the right taste, I would not have minded that it came without sahne and spargel pieces. Moving on to the main course just brought more misery and disappointment. I didn't think it was possible to ruin a schnitzel! But if you coat it in SALT so that is the only thing you can taste, it is pretty awful. I had been craving a jaeger schnitzel and was so let down. It was basically a plain schnitzel with a mound of sauteed (SALTY) mushrooms on top. NO GRAVY! The potato croquettes were just plain awful. I don't have the word power to describe how awful they were. But let me try, little mashed potato bullets coated in bread crumbs with a hint of stale refrigerator? I couldn't even eat them. My husband moaned and groaned over how salty his boiled new potatoes were. He left them uneaten on his plate. We felt kind of sick afterward and are worried about our blood pressure from the salt. If you want good food, go somewhere else.

We tried this place on our first evening in Wernigerode. Central location, staff very friendly and helpful, extensive menu, nice German traditional decor. Turned out that Spargel (white asparagus) was just in season - which is one of our family favourites. So this ticked all the boxes for us. We couldn't imagine having a better meal anywhere else so we went back our second (and last) evening too!
I believe this place can get busy in the height of the tourist season, but we were there early in the year. It was still quite full.

My wife and I made 2 evening visits while staying in the town. On both occasions we thoroughly enjoyed our meals here and felt they were good value. The fact that we returned for a second visit after enjoying the first is a testament in itself as there are many restaurants to choose from.
The menu is quite extensive although heavily weighted towards pizza and noodle dishes. However we enjoyed dishes from outside these options which were extensively flavoured by the use of herbs.
The staff were charming and helpful and the atmosphere in the restaurant is a good cross between friendly and informal and quiet and tasteful. There is also an outdoor section which we did not use.
An excellent choice in Wernigerode.

We chose the restaurant predominantly due to the kindness and personality of the young Ukrainian waitress who took our booking. She also served us and was a delight through the evening. We chose the sharing Tapas for two. The dishes were excellent varied and good quality. A lively attractive place for the evening. ..

I have been teaching at the Hochschule Harz for 5 years as a guest professor from Canada. When I want an affordable meal, I go to Casa Mia for their great food. Pasta is excellent, salads also good. Local beer/wine selection is good. Very friendly service. Grappa at the end of the meal is also nice. Consistently an excellent restaurant! No hesitation in recommending this restaurant.
