Segovia is a picturesque old city with twisting alleyways, the highest concentration of Romanesque churches in all of Europe and pedestrian-only streets, all bordered by a medieval wall and two rivers. In 1985, this sleepy Castillan town was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. One of the main tourist attractions is Alcázar, a royal palace built sometime around the 11th century where Queen Isabel agreed to fund Christopher Columbus’ exploration of the New World. The picturesque palace is said to be Walt Disney’s inspiration for Cinderella's Castle.

This iconic restaurant has been a place for people to meet and celebrate since 1982. The teamwork and the personal attentions of José María make it a gastronomic benchmark for the people of Segovia, as well as for visitors from all continents, including renowned figures from politics, culture, science and the media, both from Spain and abroad.
Jose′ Maria Restaurante is highly recommended for anyone spending a night in beautiful Segovia. it is located off the Plaza mayor, roughly equidistant between the incredible roman aqueduct and the beautiful Alcazar Castle. The restaurante specializes in roast suckling pig but has a full menu....MoreDear client, Thank you for your appreciation for our restaurant. Yours faithfully

Michelin star Worthy food in this restaurant! We had the "walk through the forest" menu and some dishes even made you think of the forest by its smell only! 10 delicious dishes including wine for 84 euro / pers. for sure the best restaurant in Segovia!

I was on a short trip in Segovia, and my hotel recommended this place. We arrived at 14.00 hrs without reservation -- and were lucky to have a table in the bar. Immediately the table was cleaned, laid out with linen and serviettes. We opted for the set menu for two that serves a whole lamb leg, cooked in the open wood oven and cut & served at the table. As a dessert we had a local sweet, which was very tasty.
On this Saturday before Christmas the bar soon was packed, and when we left people were waiting for a table. The vibes here are good. Waiters dressed in white and attentive, but a congenial atmosphere.
We left completely happy!

After walking around Segovia all morning we searched for a local place and found this little restaurant thanks to TripAdvisor. It was a tiny place along a narrow street about a 10 minute walk from the Cathedral. It was a typical Spanish restaurant frequented by locals and tourists alike. There were only 7 little tables but everything was immaculate. We tried the local roasted suckling pig sopa a la castellana fresh salad and great arroz con leche. Lunch was reasonable and the service was impeccable. Thank you TripAdvisor!

The troubles with this restaurant started upon our entrance, then instead of table reservation we made in their train, they tried to seat us in the main hall. We came there around 14.30 and restaurant was packed.
Once seated, we were left completely neglected in this train and probably assigned to another waiter from the main hall who came 30-40 minutes later to take our food order. Whereas, the waiter who was serving other tables in this train ignored us completely and we felt really really bad.
For starter I ordered risotto with boletus and my husband had croquetas. Both were quite ok.
For the main course I've ordered a venison and it took them very long time to cook it; Once they brought it to me it was half raw. I have never said that I wanted to have a raw dish, in fact, I'm pregnant and I'm not allowed to eat meat which has not undergone proper temperature treatment. I also specified then ordering venison that I wanted it to be "bien hecho". So, I had to return this dish to kitchen and 10 minutes later they brought me (most likely) the same meat completely covered by sauce, so it was hard to see how it was done. However. once I cut it, it was still very raw inside. This was then I started really loosing my patience and waiter suggested me to order their stake instead. Unfortunately, stake was overdone (very chewy) and garnison was appalling.
The only reason I do not give 1 star to this restaurant is because manager has apologized in front of us in the end and did not charge us for my unsuccessful and poorly cooked dishes.
Other thing which I also did not like at this restaurant is that their cutlery & linen has seen its best times and was in a very unpresentable shape.

The Figón de los Comuneros restaurant is located very close to the Plaza Mayor de Segovia, a step away from the main monuments located in the city center. Our restaurant is a typical meeting point at the time of the aperitif for the Segovians. The secret of success? Varied tapas and good wine.
We very much enjoyed this restaurant. The food was very tasty however perhaps somewhat overpriced - 260 euros for 7 people, only one bottle of house wine plus a selection of soft drinks, starter, mains and desert. I wouldn't have any qualms about returning but would be likely to try a different restaurant if I were to revisit Segovia, which is definitely worth a day trip from madrid.

At first we chose this restaurant because California Bar was fully booked. We didn't realise the menu itself was actually quite pricey, or maybe because restaurants in Segovia are slightly more pricier than the ones in Madrid. However we had no regrets in visiting this restaurant, because the quality of the food was worth it. We ordered the Suckling Segovia Pig, as this was recommend dish when visiting Segovia. The skin was crispy and golden, with a slight saltiness to it, the meat itself was extremely succulent. I would also recommend the octopus, fresh and delicious.

We just had suckling pig at California Bar Restaurant. It was the most moist, tender piece of meat I have ever had! We also had this amazing Greek salad! It was not the traditional Greek salad from the states, but an amazing combination of sliced tomatoes, smoked salmon, nuts and balsamic vinegar drizzle. Make sure you make a reservation. You will need it!

Among its culinary specialties include traditional roast suckling pig, the desalted cod and game dishes with seasonal mushrooms. An authentic brand and quality assurance, prepared with great care in the oven. Undoubtedly, a unique place, with the best views of the city of Segovia, both from the outside Terrace and from our classrooms, to sample a variety of dishes from Segovia cuisine: pork, butter beans, lamb, and the Mediterranean, at the hands of a team of professionals who will respond in a personalized way. The decor of the restaurant, elegantly dressed with fresh and canvases of great segoviano painter Jose Luis Lopez Saura, offers you a warm and relaxed atmosphere, ideal to enjoy a unique evening with your loved ones in one of the most special moments in life .

Segovia was on 1st of May totaly crowded, it was not easy to find free place to have a lunch. The staff took care for our family outside and we had perfect lunch. Soup, main dish ( cocinillo-small pig meat ) and sweets were outstanding. I have never tried better pork meat.
