Slovenia, wedged between Austria and Italy, has always been proud of its unique heritage. The capital, Ljubljana, is a perfect example of this blend of German, Mediterranean, and Slovenian culture. The old town is a blend of Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau buildings, watched over by a medieval castle. Cut through the gardens of Tivoli Park to the National Museum of Contemporary History for a history of modern Slovenia, featuring crumbled statues of Stalin and a recreation of a WWI trench.

I stayed 3 night at Ljubljana and walked in Old Town`s all streets and I have never been bored. Rain could not stopped me and I enjoyed a lot by watching the beautiful buildings and streets atmosphere. Scale of the streets were very sympathetic and provided different surprised angles. The first thing that you should do when you will arrive to the city. Cafes, restaurants, interesting shops, all are waiting for you to discover.

There are two maiin areas - the flatter more cultivated area, best for families and those who enjoy grass, small lakes and Playgrounds, and the hily part that has woods and paths you can travel and feel almost alone - when in fact being a short distance from the center of euroean capital...

Located in the heart of LJ’s old town district the triple bridge provides a beautiful and free attraction to visit Which connects the historical, medieval, town on one side with the modern city of Ljubljana on the other.
The original wooden bridge built in 1280 was replaced over the years and appeared in its current 3 bridge format on 1932. The Slovenian government must be commended on the state of repair (perfect) of this iconic landmark.

We took a boat trip down the river which went one way then turned round and went back up the other way and it was nice to see the lights from lower down as being Christmas, there were fairy lights on everything! Very pretty river and I imagine it would also be lovely in Summer with the willow trees hanging down.

This is one of many squares in the old town. A lot of activity though. This is a lovely square with plenty of old monuments, shops selling local ware and restaurants. A very pretty part of old town.
