Kalimpong is a bustling bazaar town set among the rolling foothills and deep valleys of the Himalayas. Kalimpong has become an important tourist destination owing to its temperate climate and proximity to popular tourist locations in the region. It is famous for its flower market, especially the wide array of orchids. Other attractions include Buddhist monasteries including the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang - known for its rare Tibetan Buddhist scriptures, churches, an excellent private library for the study of Tibetan and Himalayan language and culture. Kalimpong is home to Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje - 17th Karmapa. Kalimpong is also known for its traditional handicrafts.Although not many travellers bother to visit Kalimpong, there's enough here to keep you occupied for a couple of days, and for the energetic there's some good trekking and river-rafting in the river Teesta.

Great little bakery serving excellent desert options. Black forrest cake was yum and so was the bread. I would recommend this place as preparations are well made. Place is run by a very nice Lady n her Son who provided lot of recommendations of the Area. Please try it.

Tiny place, quick service and food came out very quickly however quite greasy. Downside was that kitchen had raw meat in bowls on the floor...hoping it was fresh and used quickly but hygiene looked doubtful. Excellent value for money though and true local feel.

Although the restaurant is located at the heart of the town, the momos weren't worth the price paid for. Although the service and the restaurant is comfortable enough though.

Right near the entrance to Kalimpong itself and in the Sood's Garden Retreat Hotel. It is by far the best restaurant we ate at in Kalimpong and much cleaner than the ones downtown.
Our rooms were big and offered views of the Mountains as we requested. The breakfast was elaborate, combining a mixture of Bengali and Western foods.
It took a while to check in because the person on duty seemed to be new. However the friendliness and helpfulness of the rest of the staff made up for this.

Cafe Refuel is one of the few motorcycle themed cafes in India. We serve fresh, delicious and healthy food. Our menu consist of a wide variety of cuisines. At Cafe Refuel we have a clean restroom; We have magazines and board games to relax at the Cafe, Karaoke, Foosball, Light music. Mountain bikes and Motoscooters (Gearless Scooters) are also available on hire from Cafe Refuel.
Cafe refuel was one of the place we were determined to go while we were in Kalimpong. It was hard to locate because it is just at the beginning of Kalimpong. One has to be very careful in watching it out. We stayed at Holumba so it wasn't very far we strolled to cafe. Cafe was nice full of lively things like foosball table, Bullet motorcycle, mountain bikes (Bicycles) and a friendly host. We had good meals a mix of veg and non veg snacks like Veg fried Balls, Tuna Salad and Nachos with Salsa, along with that we had coffee to wash it all down. In all it is nice place to hang out and chat. In case you want to take bicycles on rent they can provide. Not sure they still do but you can check once. Bicycles can be very handy in Kalimpong.

Visited this small bakery once during our stay in Kalimpong. The pastries were okay and the deaf waiter was very friendly. Personally, I like to contribute to the job of this man. This because I think it isn't common that this guy can have a job like this in countries like India.

This is a nice little restaurant on the 8th mile road. The food is very reasonable and the quantity is very good for the price you pay.
It is very rare that you get to eat pork that is very soft and this place served it perfectly. The pork chilly was very tasty and the portion is huge. The Chinese dishes are very tasty, but the noodles is generally rice noodles, so that is one change.
The ambience is quaint with cafe still Seating.
Definitely a recommended place for lunch.

There are a few Chinese restaurants in Kalimpong, but Lee's probably has the best location (overlooking a bit of the town) and definitely the best food. We tried the steamed fish with black beans, chicken with cashew nuts, and asked the owner to make an off-menu dish (steamed palak with garlic). All were fantastic, with the steamed fish (thoroughly deboned) the highlight.
I'd previously tried the pork ribs one lunch - another highlight, and cooked in pukka Chinese style.
Service is excellent (and quick), and the ambiance of the place is perfect - little Chinese lanterns and photographs of Kalimpong town. Would definitely recommend.

The restaurant is larger than most in Kalimpong, cleaner than most, friendlier than most, and the food is just fine. If you have time and need a quick bite to eat while shopping in the bazaar, you should give them your business. They deserve it.
