The water around Ishigaki is pure blue, with white sandy beaches to soothe your senses. But don't just stand on the beach and stare. Travelers recommend a ride in a glass-bottomed boat to gaze at the coral reefs and tropical fish from above.

With limited restaurants in the Northern part of Ishigaki, the restaurants with delicious food and low price are always with long queue. Noodles, rice, and Deserts are all delicious. After I write my name on the registration sheet, I decided to driver to the Northern cape and back. It tool me around 45 mins for the round trip and I still need to wait for 15 mins to get my table. The only drawback is that there are quite some fries in the restaurants.

Recommended by Lonely Planet, I wanted to try. No English menu although waiter did speak some English and just look around at what others are eating. I had standard Ikasumi chahan (squid ink fried rice), goya-champuru (bitter melon, tofu, egg), sashimi Moriawase (sashimi assortment), sashimi salad, and fried noodles. All were great dishes and very fresh. I would consider Paikaji one of the best Okinawan restaurants.

This is the ideal restaurant where to taste the typical cuisine of Ishigaki Island. We had a menu (shared with my girlfriend) and Two more dishes: beef sushi and another one (typical vegetable of the the island). The service was great too! Strongly recommend to book in advance!

9 quiet private room for 4 to 10 persons. Along with the pet you can eat.
We stumbled across Ishigakiya while searching for a good restaurant to go for some yakiniku. Ishigaki beef is meant to be one of the best wagyu in Japan so while we were on the island we decided we have to try one of the best. Ishigakiya did not disappoint. The restaurant is situated near Aeon Town just on small road up a slope. The restaurant is furnished mainly in wood in a very traditional older Japanese house. All guests are required to take off their shoes while enjoying the beef there. The Seating was very comfortable as you get a nice private space on your own even with a table for two. All the grills used charcoal which made the beef taste even better. We went for a simple Ishigaki beef set that comes with two plates of beef. We also ordered the ox tongue on the side. The beef was just as good as they claim to be. The staff here was also very helpful. In general the level of English is not great but luckily there was a staff there that speaks our language and they also have English menu which made our lives a lot easier. The restaurant manager was also extremely nice and insisted that she give us some contacts for nice resorts on the island. Definitely worth a try if you want some Ishigaki beef.

This is a very good teppanyaki restaurant. Every course was skilfully prepared and the taste was good. We had the special pair dinner course and the Ishigaki beef steak was the star of the meal. The seafood course was also special as it was cooked inside a "plastic" wrap on the iron plate. Service was very good although the staff spoke limited English. It is definitely worth a visit if you come to the Ishigaki Island.

We were drawn to this place by the comments on tripadvisor. We decided to have our last lunch in Ishigaki, on this place and went really early since we knew they close as soon as they run out of tofu. We got a table immediately, which was also a stroke of luck.
We ordered the small tofu set, served with white rice and soy milk, and the big tofu bowl with soba. Both together were less than 900 yen. We recommend it for its simplicity. Plus, you can always season it at your own taste.
It might be hard to get there without a car since it's located by a dirt road, 200m off the main road that links Nagura village and Ishigaki city.

This is a lovely, welcoming place for dinner or a drink. There's an extensive drinks menu including creative non-alcoholic options.
The food is Okinawan/Balinese and it works.
All is served in a comfortable, vibrant environment, with a smile and a friendly conversation.
Follow the signs down a steepish driveway for parking, and enjoy!

After Reading how famous Ishigaki beef is, I had to try. Apparently Yamamoto is very famous/popular bbq restaurant with individual grills for each table. As Yamamoto is not a large restaurant, recommend booking well in advance as the restaurant seems to stop taking customers after 7 pm as it looks like they want to close by 9 pm. No English menu, some pictures, very little English spoken.
This is Korean bbq restaurant. You can order three kinds of kimchi (delicious) and assorted cuts of beef. The ribeye at JPY 3,900 (200 grams) was pricey and good if you like fatty meat. I also had the tongue (seasoned and thinly sliced which when cooked and you add thinly raw onion) was great. The marinated beef was leaner and also delicious.
Overall, the experience is similar to going to a simple Korean bbq restaurant but the beef was delicious and worth trying once.
