We travelled from Zell am See through Grossglocknerstrasse for a lunch in Cafe-Restaurant Alm Casino. The restaurant was actually closed as it is basically a breakfast and dinner restaurant only... but the great staff were having a lunch and explained their kitchen was closed. But they continued: "we can prepare a schnitzel and salad for you easily, so do not worry". So we stayed in the restaurant with a team of four adults and a baby, enjoyed very good salads and schnitzels and everything went great. After the lunch I had a chat with one of the guys of staff while paying for our bill and he even offered a snapsch of local spirit to me!
So, thanks a lot for the great staff for allowing us a great lunch experience!

We visited this restaurant repeatedly and have always left satisfied. Prosecco, afternoon cofee with desert, or dinner with our little daughter, all without problems and good quality. The staff is friendly and willing. The only difficulty are Austrian omnipresent flies inside the restaurant.
I can recommend restaurant CASA

As you expect, too expensive but quality ok, nothing more to say. The ambiance is very nice and they offer different kinds of dishes. We ordered fritatten suppe were the 'fritatten' went in the bowl and after that a 15 second microwave. Same for the roasted vegetables.

Spectacular setting, located at the world famous Grossglockner alpine road. We ordered Weissbier, which in this region always turns out to be a good choice. They serve cheese from own production from milk of cows grazing right next to the hut. Their "Emmenthaler" is prized and certainly worth a try - but do try to convince the service to cut the cheese in thick slices! Otherwise the cheese is served cut very thinly and this is not the way Emmenthalter is served best. I assume they do that because people are too stingy in investing 2€ for a better taste... Very friendly female owner with a lot of pride in what she does - also rewarded "Alm of the Year" in 2007, which is quite remarkable, considering the competition.

One of the worst german rostbraten in my life. Tough meat, disgusting fat in the beans. Crappy salad, chicken strips replaced fried schnitzel. Baby food in the standard. The staff a little slow. Not like guys

We ate here the night we arrived and it was excellent. The food is delicious, wine is good and the service wonderful. On Wednesday nights. I believe, it's Fondue night. Try it, excellent. Prices are what you would expect and they give you plenty. Enjoy!!

We had a few nice evenings at this bar. We could took our dog which was interested in the menu with loads of different drinks.
There are playcards we could use, and I can recommend the gin tonic ;-)
Only small disadvantage for me is that you are allowed to smoke inside.

We ate dinner here on a Saturday night, in October, after traversing the Glossglockner Highway for the day. They were the only restaurant in town that was open, as all others were closed due to the low season, for them (most re-open in December).
Lovely owner. She was so pleasant and helpful, speaking to us in English.
The place was very busy & a local singing quartet stopped by and entertained us, all, by chance.
There were several options for non-meat eaters like me.
The menu for coffees looked amazing! Too bad we weren't coming back for breakfast!

Regional Food
