Perhaps not surprisingly bearing in mind the name, the decor and setting reflected the early 20th century. However I would have expected that the food would be a little more inventive. The four of us had a selection of the specials, The meat ball in particular was pretty tasteless and the dumplings stodgy. Whilst this is meant to represent the cooking of a grandmother, not all grandmothers are good enough cooks to run a restaurant. Filling and adequate, not a great eating experience, but a great venue and friendly staff

The restaurant is located in a very good spot, right next to the Frauenkirche, in a beautiful building. In front, Christmas trees already adorned the entrance.
They had quite an extensive menu, featuring Germanic cuisine. I tried the Saxon sour beef, which was quite tasty. It came with red cabbage and potato dumplings. But the dessert, the original Dresden Eierschecke cake, is what will prove to be addicting for me; it was light, not too sweet, just right for my taste. Lovely. Atmosphere inside the restaurant was quite festive: decorated with wreaths, Christmas balls, nativity scenes, and nutcrackers.
Service was efficient but I had to flag the server down to get my bill. I guess they allow guests to linger over their desserts and coffee.

The atmosphere on the first floor was a bit like a canteen, not very cosy. The brewpub on the ground floor looked very nice, though. We had to take the table upstairs because we did not have a reservation...
The food and beers we had were fine, nothing out of the ordinary, but that's what we expected.

Although we made no reservation for this restaurant we were accommodated immediately, luckily for us they spoke very good English because we spoke no German, we both ordered Tenderloin Steak, it was absolutely to die for, the food and service were so good that we returned to this restaurant the following night, the owner even took the time to come out and introduce himself to us and welcome us to the town.

We came here because of the many positive comments about this place - and they were right! Very professional, very nice location, very good food and vine. We choose the 5-course set surprise meal - they won't tell you what they will bring, but trust me it as all delicious! And all this for € 35 (8-course-menu 45 €!) Come here as a couple or with friends: you will always like it.

Great restaurant offering German and Bohemian cuisine. Very spacious and stylish inside. Wide choice of dishes and beers, portions are huge and food itself is really yummy! My favourite drink there is light beer with banana juice. If you are ever in Freiberg, this place is highly recommended to visit!

TheSpitzhaus restaurant was a 10 minute drive from our vacation apartment in the Wilder Mann neighborhood of Dresden and was recommended by friends-of-friends. We were glad we had the navigation system to aid us in getting there - the restaurant is in a rather out-of-the-way location.
The service was slow, but friendly (in helping us translate the menu) and accommodating (in preparing a dish that was no longer on the menu). My salmon, my son's schnitzel, and our friend's mushroom dish were all good.
The view was beautiful! A lovely place to spend a summer's evening.

The restaurant Carolaschlosschen in Dresden - an oasis of peace! The dreamlike Carolaschlosschen is located in one of the most beautiful parks in Dresden, the Great Garden. A real film set opens up to the viewer when he coming just a couple of steps from the Tiergartenstrasse over the old, arched wooden bridge and lets his gaze wander over the picturesque Carolasee. A taste of life!

Really nice place to get breakfast. The food is cheap (4.5 euros for scrambled eggs, bacon and toast), and excellent. Especially good coffee and milkshakes as well. Atmosphere is friendly, making it an excellent place to meet a friend or publicly break up with a crazy girlfriend.
