Several times I have had diner here and also businss parties. The building is situated in the center of Drachten. In the future this place will be much more cozy, because of re-opening of the canal. Food is ok, staff is friendly. Price/quality is average.

Went with one of the colleagues to Coriander for dinner. The place was not crowded at all. The food was great. The ambiance was very good and the service was very good as well. We trusted the chef with the dinner choices and it turned out to be great. He made a point to come and talk to us on our liking on type of food, type of preparation, spices etc. It was an experience of its own.
Location - 7/10 (well, if you know Drachten, then it is 9/10 !!!)
service - 9/10
Food quality - 9/10
Ambiance - 8/10
Return for dinner - YES

As tourist in the Drachten area we used trip advisor to choose this restaurant. As per previous reviews, staff were friendly, we were happy to hear they could speak English and had an english language menu card ( translator could go back in pocket!!)
The drinks service was swift, so was taking the order, but actual Delivery was slow ( 50 mins from ordering to getting main course ( and restaurant was about half full) but the food was lovely and worth the wait. Portions were very large and included rice or noodles.. 2 main dishes would feed 3 people easily...
worth a visit if you like chinese food in very pleasant surroundings...

Simple, cosy italian restaurant. Excellent pizza's, (too) much choise, thin, crunchy crust and good qualitiy toppings. Good pasta, we tried salmon/ cream and arrabiata, tasty. Good service. One but: all factory made Deserts. A pity: disappointment after a good meal and a missed opportunity for us and the restaurant. The real deal: investing in your own, home made desserts, show your love and proudness for fresh, home made food. A plastified desert menu with factory stuff is not what we want.

Restaurant the Splinter is situated in the center area off Drachten. It's a pleasant place to stay and on the menu plenty to chooce from . We serve the dishes with fresh vegetables, salat and potatoes. During the summer you can dine in our garden . It is possible to dine in a private atmosphere with a group.'
Easy atmosphere coupled with quiet expertise ensures that a visit to Splinter will be repeated. Good food thats well prepared and presented will ensure that your first visit won't be your last. We treat ourselves at least once on each visit to our boat which is moored at Smelne in Drachten, especially on our last night before returning to England--always something to look forward to! Can highly recommend.

Very nice hotel. I have stayed at a Van der Valk before, but never in Drachten. I received a great price for the room and the food was very good. I visited Giethoorn and Leeuwarden that weekend. Giethoorn is a beautiful place to visit.

We, Isabelle and Simon Lamsma, are two young, highly motivated people with a lot of passion and personal conviction for our passion, the gastronomy. In June 2014, we were able to take over this renowned restaurant of Gerard and Jose de With. During the last 14 years they made this restaurant to what it is today. It has received many awards, such as the BIB GOURMAND of the Michelin guide, which stands for an extremely good price/ performance relation. But also in the magazine Lekker top 500 the Het Spijshuys is not missing. Isabelle Lamsma-Kummer successfully completed her training as a hotelier at the Hotel School of Lucerne in Switzerland. The frisian Simon Lamsma went to Switzerland after completing his education to gather abroad experience in various Swiss Hotels and Restaurants. Most recently, he worked in the Rigiblick in Zurich, a restaurant, which has also been awarded a Michelin star. But a ,,real" Frisian is pulled back to his home. Isabelle, his wife, took on the challenge and the adventure Friesland started. With the acquisition of the restaurant ,,Het Spijshuys" a long-cherished dream of each of them has come true. Chef Tjeerd Elzinga, has for many years been sous-chef at ,,Het Spijshuys" and has now taken over the lead of the kitchen brigade. He loves to create new culinary creations from high-quality products out of our region and he really enjoyes pampering our guests. This according to our motto : pure, honest, savour. The restaurant is open daily, except Mondays and tuesdays, from 3 p.m. until 23 p.m. We look forward to welcoming guests from the region, tourists, but also groups and business people are always welcome. We serve you apart from in Dutch and Frisian, also in German and English language. Welcome to "Het Spijshuys", Isabelle und Simon Lamsma
We celebrated my wife's birthday at this restaurant, with 36 of us all told. To my pleasant surprise, the proprietors permit free choice at the table for such a large number from a slightly restricted menu. This did not impede efficient preparation and unhurrried but well synchronised serving of the tables by charming serving staff. The greatest test of all was the quality of the food, which with such numbers can tend to suffer. Not here though! The chef and his team appeared to be focused on each guest individually. The quality deserved the highest praise. The atmosphere was enhanced by the attractive lay out, combining intimacy with ample room.

We are the one and only Japanese restaurant in Drachten. We are known for our quality of food and services. Our chefs are experts of the oriental cuisine. Not only fish, but also meat and vegetarian dishes. We hope you will visit our restaurant and have a wonderful time here. Thank you.
I have visited this restaurants several times, located in Drachten formerly the location was used by other restaurants. I knew the place before while it houses an Indonesian restaurant called Cabe which was a good place to dine, unfortunately located in a wrong place.
This Japanese restaurant serves in the style of all you can eat offering 4 rounds, per round you can order 5 dishes. I've tried my best but come only to the third round, but the owner told me that there are a lot of customers that can complete the rounds.
The qualiyy of food is okay, I'm not an expert of Japanese food but the choice is abundant so there is enough to choose for every taste. The price is okay too, lunch is cheaper than dinner.

The place itself is gorgeous, especially for Drachten. They really did a fine job decorating the place, and the combination with the bakery is lovely.
Art is obvious that they are still finding their way however. Staff is very friendly but too slow. The time between bringing the menu vs bringing the drinks is way too long.
We had eggs with freshly baked bread. The eggs were overcooked and not tasty. The bread was to die for however.
All in all, if they do some more training and they increase the quality of food, a great choice for Drachten!
