Our first night in France after having travelled for 24+ hours. It was a delight to visit this restaurant and the greeting was lovely. We were warmly welcomed and everything was explained in an excellent dialogue between all of us in French and English. Very good quality food which is well presented. Service very good. Would happily recommend. Probably a little on the more expensive side it very good value. Well done.

On a quick stopover for dinner we were in a hurry but like the place and the service and the food so much that we stayed for a full 3 course meal.
Reminiscent of a french housewife's home cooking, good quality and quantity in a very homely surrounding where everybody seems to know everybody.

About an hour and a quarter from Calais makes this town (Cambrai) and restaurant a good stopping place. Cambrai is historic in terms of both WW1 when it was part of the Hindenburg line and the German Headquarters, and WW2 when it was again German Headquarters.
The first tank battle took place here in 1917.
So there is much history to become aware of, and the Restaurant having David and Alain speaking both French and English makes it easy to ask questions about where to go and what to see.
Sitting outside you are alongside an arm of the St Quentin canal with barges, ducks and swans parading. The ambience is good in the Restaurant and in the evening David will play the piano and sing whilst Alain serves the drinks.
Well worth a visit to this friendly location where you will be made most welcome.

Excellent dinner and service at an excellent location. We managed to get a table even though we hadn't booked. It was packed by the time we left. A very popular place to eat. The menu catered for all tastes. The fish was delicious and the Andouillette was also very good. Very filling. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely return the next time we are in Cambrai.

Sunday noon. Luckily a table for two is still available (booking upfront seems recommended) The place is packed with locals. A large family having a birthday party. Another family dining with granny and grandpa. Kids running around. The fire place fills the rooms with a glow. The interior looks like an old cafe. Very authentic. The food is great. The portions are large. Local dishes. Very tasty. Prices are reasonable. The service is very nice and friendly.
We recommend !

If you’re in Cambrai and feel like a real treat, try this newly refurbished restaurant, a star attraction in the family-run hotel, Le Mouton Blanc.
As a group dining in a private room, a menu had been prepared for us with two choices for the starter and main courses. I had a deliciously smooth foie gras, accompanied by an onion marmalade and decorated with a small salad. Absolutely mouth-watering. I followed this with sea bass for the main course. It was perfectly cooked as were the vegetables which came in a mini oblong cauldron. The final course was une ‘assiette gourmande’, small portions of a variety of desserts. So tempting were they, that it was difficult to know where to begin.
This was French cuisine at its best.

We were beginning to despair of French country cooking after two weeks in Burgundy at local, but not expensive, restaurants, and this was the perfect end to our holiday as we worked our way home.
Surprising was that it was quiet for a Saturday, though we eat early for the continentals, but it deserved to be busier.
Excellent helpful and friendly service accompanied by food that was not only presented by a chef who felt some pride in what left his kitchen, but tasty too.
A starter of smoked salmon and avocado was not the plain fare one might have imagined, and imaginatively delivered it was too, packed with flavour, as was, apparently, my wife's snails in garlic. I followed with the veal in sauce which was delicious and my wife a steak (why?) and we finished with Coffee gourmand for me and chocolate fondant for her, again, I won!
We left France feeling that all was not lost for those eating at places where a second mortgage was needed.

Thank goodness for TA because without it and the reviews you would walk past this excellent eating place. The less than attractive street surroundings give little evidence of the warm welcome you will receive into this simply decorated restaurant. The food, was simple, cooked to perfection and we were helped in the translation by the owners lovely English speaking daughter in law. Thoroughly recommend as a stop off going to the Alps as an alternative to more southern towns.

Le Bistro du Boucher is a chain of approximately 30 franchise restaurants, mostly around Paris and a number in central and northern France. We visited the one located in the centre of Cambrai.
All restaurants of the chain have the same atmosphere and are outfitted in a semi-fifties style. Yet the people who run the restaurant make the difference. The Cambrai Bistro is one of the better ones.
Le Bistro du Boucher Cambrai serves nice beef dishes and service is friendly. Do not expect sophisticated cuisine, here you just eat very well.
We would recommend Le Bistro du Boucher Cambrai to anyone who seeks good non-vegetarian food at an affordable price.

The food is always good here. I have been three times now and it is always superb. I love the idea of different wines by glass on each menu degastation. The service is spot on. Patrice Demarcq walked around twice chatting to his customers - a lovely touch. The youngest waiter needs more training, to serve wine from the right, food from the left and not to stretch across customers for any reason. I will always go there when I visit my friend in Cambrai. You need to book up. There are very few tables.
