I visit the place since the mid '90s, but the food was always very fine. A few years ago they shortened the menu a little bit, but it's long enough to choose from. You can find mainly typical hungarian food. Try the " Harcsa halaszle" (catfish soup). In the summertime they have an open terasse, just beside the nice little Körös river.

There are two shops in Gyula that offer the same, extremely delicious cakes. This one has perhaps a greater variety, for example they've got my personaly favorite: different types of Rétes as well. Handcrafted chocolate and ice cream is also part of the charm.
This being said, if you only have time to visit one of the cake shops, I'd recommend the Százéves Cukrászda instead, because of the royal atmosphere and the much nicer waiters.

They have great ice cream and pralines. We did not like cakes that much.
Place is beautiful for early morning walk and enjoying in the garden with cafe, ice cream and newspapers :). Indoor is amazing as well. Staff was polite. English is a general issue in Guyla, so you have to get used to it.

We were 5 at a dinner and have eaten several meals. Some of them were good and some were not so good…
The soups were ok.
The trout was excellent, but the potato as side dish was partly raw.
But the brassói aprópecsenye was just terrible. May be it wanted to be classical, but it was so greasy that my daughter became ill of it.
Draft beer range is very limited (we drank staropramen, which was poor quality).
Moreover we had to listen all long to a terrible, primitive music.

Unfortunately we were not satisfied at all. We had quite high expectation due to the reviews on TripAdvisor but the restaurant did not manage to meet the expectation.
There is no atmosphere at all, food was not bad but neither very good and definitely the service should be better.
You can find much better place to eat in Gyula as we have found too.

It is always full of people. Worth the visit. The prises are reasonable. The place is a bit futurestic. Coffees and Coctails are well prepared.

Akár a la carte, akár menüs étkezésről van szó, megbíztható étterem. Jó főznek, nagyok az adagok és kellemes a személyzet.
Nem csoda, hogy mindig telt ház van!

I know this place for long time - its always amazing. Summertime sitting in the garden is fantastic - wintertime next to the fire with all the smells (massice cuts of pork, duck, goose) coming out - priceless.
Waiter stuff is very nice and helpful. Dont expect easy light food - if u really wanna try hungarian - transilvanian food : this is your place.
Our guests can choose from a’La Carte menu card or from three different menus every day.
