Being out of season a lot of the restaurants are closed or empty. This was the latter but it had been recommended by our guide. We were the only people there all evening. Speaking no Spanish we managed to communicate to the owner that he choose our food. It was fun and the food good. Not knowing how many courses were going to arrive we also didn't know whether to eat the plates clean. As the food was good it was difficult not to so after four or five courses we were rather full as you can imagine! We also let him choose the wine which was local and excellent. The bill in total came to €50

Today at lunch at a very local restaurant. Only €26.50 for gazpacho, pez espada or secreto, a flan, bread, water, beer and wine. All very acceptable too; the gazpacho was a bit bready, the chips a bit oily, but the secreto was full of flavour.

We found very few places open on a Monday evening in Aracena. Most of the town is completely unspoilt by tourism, inevitably the area by the caves hasn't entirely escaped! It was therefore with some concern we set off for this restaurant, whilst food and service were ok, it was catering for the tourists flocking to the caves. Was it ok? Yes, a disaster? No! Better places in town? Definitely, but may be not on a Monday!!!

If you come here on a Saturday, you must be prepared to join the queue. There are other Confiterias in Aracena but the busy little Rufino is by far the most popular and with good reason. You will find a myriad of mouth watering cakes, pastries and tarts in all shapes, sizes and flavours. Make your choice and they'll box them up for you to take home. Go on you know you want to.
Confiteria Rufino is not a cafe - but there are a number of cafes and bars nearby.

I was looking for the cool, inviting courtyard but as earlier posts indicate the restaurant has moved premises. We therefore sat at one of the metal tables in the street outside. Peaceful, outside "havens" seem to be at a premium in Aracena, but this road was quiet enough. The food was excellent. We both had the same. A tapas starter of mushroom risotto and a main of tagliatelle diosa. Both were excellent. Albeit Italian food in a Spanish location, La Stradina is worth seeking out for its local ingredients and the top quality cooking.

it is a small bar so feels full with few people in it. decor not of good quality and needs some tlc. staff took my order but no conversation with them, tapas were given to the locals ordering beers but not to me. I speak Spanish so no reason for them to treat me as an outsider but the bar is mainly for the locals

Great welcome, great food, great venue!
Always a pleasure to return to El Postigo and enjoying the lovely food created by Pepe.
The starter: Prawns in garlic /red pepper /olive oil.
Main course: Asparages with Iberica ham and my partner a lovely Calves meat dish. So tender and tasteful!
A place to return to!
Thanks Pepe.

Very easy going place where we, despite our lack of Spanish and tapas knowledge, were graciously treated. No English at the bar or on the menu, so spent 20 minutes with our phone and Google Translate figuring things out, but ended up with a nice section of tapas and 2 or three glasses of wine and had trouble breaking 20 euro for the effort. Seemed exclusively a local crowd, and got quite busy around 9:00, but we had a lot of fun.

Very nice atmosphere and my wife got a great entrecote. Reasonably priced and good food overall. My daughter had a decent portion of bolognese and I had a carbonara.
This reasturant is right next to the entrance of the magnificient cave of Aracena. Definitely something to experience. To me it was better thank caves in Jamaica or Gibraltar, that we have visited........

Located in the heart of the Sierra de Aracena, Jesus Carrion Restaurant is an ideal place to enjoy a variety of dishes and tapas made with local produce, international and innovative touches and a carefully selected wine instead. Come and enjoy a drink, good food and a nice atmosphere.
There is no doubt that the food is good here, but we found the atmosphere, and the staff to be over the top, full of themselves and pretentious. It is not cheap, but you may consider it value for money. For what it is worth, the night we were there, it was full of Brits.
