Tuesday thru Sunday. Serving Lunch and dinner from 11:30 to closing. Later on weekends July and August open daily from 11:30 to close
Came here after a day at Blue Mountain - very hungry and really for some warmth. Our server was very pleasant and chatty. We ordered pizza and a charcuterie board and both were absolutely incredible. The honey used for the charcuterie board is apparently made by a relative of the owner/ an employee and we would have bought a jar if possible! The only downfall was that I wished we were seated on the top floor rather than the ground - just a preference but it would have been nice to choose as there were many empty spots upstairs. My friend left her phone and they tracked my number down through the reservation to notify us as well which was much appreciated. I will definitely return after any Blue Mountain trip :)

A popular family owned Gastropub set in the quaint village of Thornbury, Ontario. We are featured regularly on The Food Network's "You Gotta Eat Here!" Folks come for miles to enjoy Chef Rob Lussier's culinary delights, over 900 whiskies in Stephanie's Whisky Bar, and our impeccable service with seasoned waiters. All this nestled into our circa 1875 house with a welcoming and cozy ambience. Reservations highly recommended.
This is a favourite place with "stoatin fairn" - great food! Our lunch order consisted of their beef burger along with the soup of the day and the shepherd's pie with a side Ceasar. The wait staff was courteous, attentive, and efficient without being intrusive. Excellent. The lunch arrived nice and hot. The soup of the day which was a combination of root vegetables with bacon was perfect for a cold afternoon. The burger came with all of the needed condiments served in individual small cups, so you could dress your burger the way you wanted it. Every restaurant should do this. The burger was delicious char-broiled lean beef on a fresh soft Kaiser roll with fresh lettuce, onion and tomato. Perfection. The onion rings were crisp, fresh and a nice addition. The shepherd's pie was piping hot, and wonderfully tasty while the Caesar salad was fresh and crisp with just the right amount of dressing. All in all a very enjoyable luncheon. Slainte mhath!

Cavernous dining space with not enough staff.
First time we went, we were the only customers in this large dining area. The patio was not open due to inclement weather. The food was interesting and good and the portions were generous.
On our return visit, at 5:30 P.M. on Thrusday, the staff would not seat us because of sta

The Cheese Gallery is a gourmet cheese shop that features cheeses from Ontario, Canada and around the world. Highlighting local artists that work in a variety of mediums, we offer a unique experience. Enjoy our Cheese Tasting Plate for 2 at the bar paired with a local wine from Georgian Hills or Coffin Ridge. Our lounge offers cozy chairs to sip tea, and enjoy a fresh croissant.
This place was highly recommended for butter tarts. Our American friends had never heard of them. If you are Canadian, that is shocking. The venue has a bakery/ café at the front and numerous cheeses near the back. Also knick knack type things. So, the butter tarts were a bit disappointing as they were cold. We ate much better ones elsewhere. Still a lovely place.

A Thornbury landmark restaurant located on the edge of the Beaver river/Mill pond dam. Enjoy amazing views and delicious food on the patio or apres ski by the cozy fireplace. Open for lunch and dinner
The Mill Cafe is a nice restaurant. Fairly high end and pricey, but very good with a friendly environment. The Caesar salad appetizer was nice. The tuna dinner special with Thai noodles was excellent and filling as explained very well by our waitress Sydney. She was excellent too!!

Outstanding Georgian Bay views from this landmark waterfront restaurant. Wood Fired Pizza, Pasta, Steaks and Fresh Fish. Extensive wine list with an emphasis on fine Italian selections. Relaxing upscale lounge and bar.
The four of us looked for a dinner place. We came to Thornbury on short notice for the family weekend and tried five different restaurants (all booked out). We were surprised that this place was not fully booked. Great service and delicious main dishes. We came back the next day.

Spent the weekend in Thornbury and six of us enjoyed a most pleasant lunch on the patio of the Bridge Tavern. Good menu and well presented plates. Good selection of local and international beers, very good service, would highly recommend and will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

For about 20 years, Jennifer White has been doing what she loves in the southern Georgian Bay town of Thornbury. Jennifer has been operating The Orchid Restaurant, which she owns. Being an area resident, I have eaten here previously and I have watched as the The Orchid started on the west side of town, then moved to premises on the east side of town and then moved back to a location on the west side of town on Highway 26.
It's clear that as much as Jennifer White loves the restaurant business, patrons love The Orchid.
Four of us visited there today (Sept. 16th) and the only Seating available was on the patio, outside. That was fine because there was one table for four, out of three available, left under sunny skies and in warm temperatures that reminded us of summer.
We arrived just before the lunch service starts at 11 a.m., but happy in the knowledge that The Orchid offers all-day breakfasts. So we called it our brunch!
Inside The Orchid, all Seating was taken and we expected that, judging by how busy the parking lot appeared. Interestingly, as we sat under an umbrella at our patio table, we watched as – almost in synchronized fashion – patrons left the restaurant, just as new patrons were arriving.
When we first arrived at The Orchid, we checked inside and found all the tables taken. A friendly nod from a server and we headed for the outdoor table. A server followed and took our drink orders and, as we reviewed the menu, our server told us about that day's specials.
Good news! The Orchid allows patrons to order one-egg Eggs Benedict. This is good, because not everybody wants two eggs, although you can order them too. In recent weeks, we had visited a Collingwood restaurant which would only allow a customer to order two eggs Eggs Benedict.
More good news. The Orchid was offering specials of a crab omellete, or salmon with Eggs Benedict (two eggs!). My partner ordered a one-egg Eggs Benedict with yogurt and I ordered Salmon Eggs Benedict (two egg!) with home fries.
Our friends both ordered a Western Cheese Salsa Wrap. We all had coffee.
The service was excellent. Our meals arrived and we enjoyed them along with coffee refills.
I can remember coming here on one New Year's morning, for breakfast with my partner. We sat and talked to a couple who were nearby. They turned out to be the parents of then-mayor of the Town of the Blue Mountains, Ellen Anderson. She's no longer involved in politics, but it's interesting that when you eat at a small, community restaurant you can find out all sorts of things. Things like what the former mayor is doing now. I saw her business card on one side inside The Orchid when I went to pay our bill.
Along with some other local tourist information on a shelf, there was a business card for Ellen Anderson proclaiming that she offers property management services. Bet she eats here too, but we did not see her.
We all agreed that our brunches were tasty. Our total bill, including taxes, was $57.55.
Then, we left The Orchid and went for a visit at the nearby waterfront of Thornbury harbour.

This place never disappoints. The food quality is high, fresh bakery items, good lunch selection and delicious soups, and the coffees and lattes are so good. Plus, the staff is so nice and attentive, always working hard like they are all owners and really care. Keep up the great work!
