This museum explore the turtle preservation marketing (Tamar project - a non-profit organization dedicated to preserve the sea turtles in Brazilian Shores). In name of the preservation of turtles (ha ha ha), they made a "turtle zoo" with no attractions, only few species. The place has not enough infrastructure, where the people made great lines to restroom, no water Fountains, and the turtles are living in a dirty, and without maintenance, tanks. The gift shop has a sort of overpriced items that I refused to buy anything. What a shame place.I'll never back there again. Also, I hope you never do there too.

This is the quietest beach between Praia do Forte and Costa de Sauipe. Great for solitude surf and sea view. You will encounter donkeys and goats from the village. It is a perfect place to be idle. Access is also a little difficult. Follow the signs from the village. Beach access is good for people who like to Hike especially from Costa de sauipe i.e. along the beach to the south west from the resort at costa de sauipe and around the first point there you are! Access from imbassai is a longer 30-45 minutes if you are walking and only try that at or near low tide when the beach sand is firm, a few hours later and you will have only soft sand dunes which will tire you on your trip. So set out a couple of hours before low tide and walk back a couple of hours after. That way your walk will be idyllic coming and going.
Infrastructure is Basic, i.e. modern public sanitation facilities essentially missing. The beach barracas are similarly basic but fun to talk to the owners and have a bottled water or beer, but I have never risked anything other than that.( If you want to eat go to a restaurant in the village, the best known being "Sombra de mangueira" in Diogo which is well worth the trip).

When I wrote on this attraction recently I was surprised to find two separate threads in Tripadvisor, this one i.e. Castelo Garcia d'Avila and the less frequented thread with the official name "Casa de Torre Garcia d'Avila"
Moreover the address seems to be somewhat confused therefore I post a picture of the route from downtown Praia do Forte to the site. As an aside all of the beach towns on this coast have there own name but the municipalities that govern them include a very large area with a separate name taken from the administrative center. Which in this case" Mata de Sao Joao" is well away from both Praia do forte beach and from the site of the attraction. see second map.

Excelente local para almoço em família, espaço amplo, e com boa opção de cardápio. Tem estacionamento, aceita cartão de crédito e ainda tem onde deixar as crianças brincando. Banheiros limpos e preço acessível.

This used to be one of the loveliest Beaches close to Praia do Forte and for people staying in a pousada close bye it can be very nice. However there is very little parking close bye so if you need that be sure to get there early on weekend days and holidays.
Now however in the high season December January and February the area is very crowded. The piscinas naturais are crowded and the beach covered by ambulante vendors. It is dirty with waste paper discarded wrappers and so on. Moreover there is no provision for sanitary needs which means that bathers will walk into the tidal pools in large numbers while a voiding each other.
With herds of tourists snorkeling it has changed from a quiet pleasant experience to an exercise in communal swimming in the tidal pools chummed up with bread to attract feeding fish and non swimmers standing with a middle distance gaze.
To make it even nicer the cost of a sun shade and four folding chairs is up to 30 Reais for rental and you have not even had a beer yet.
My suggestion would be mid week, and avoid on weekends and holidays during high season

Importante: llevar agua, protector solar y calzado adecuado.
Para visitar.

The Bahia Service Express (BSE) offers airport transfer (in and out) and also transport services to connect the main touristic hot spots along the north coast of Bahia/Brazil, as Salvador, Imbassai, Praia do Forte, Costa do Sauipe, Aracaju, among others. We also offer several outdoor recreations, such as: kayaking along the river, hiking in nature, and horseback riding on Beaches, tropical wood
I have recently reviewed this service from the perspective of its car services which are exceptional. But since then I have had the opportunity to do the kaiaking down the river Imbassai from Diogo to the outskirts of the town. Jones was our guide, the kaiaks were comfortable and easy to maneuver and going down river gave the very best opportunity to observe the fabulous bird life through the pantanal in total seclusion and quiet. It is a fabulous opportunity to get away from the noise of the town and the forced happy happy happy activity of the local resorts. Here you can really relax and observe. The three hour excursion is so relaxing, interesting, and informative that not to do this trip is a real lost opportunity.
Similarly a walk through the Atlantic rain forest with Thomas as our quite was stimulating and interesting in the variety of natural attractions and wildlife that you have an opportunity to see. I never realized how fast a Capivara can run when threatened, how many birds and how many botanical species exist along the trail, not to mention the Imbassai river Waterfalls pools and solitude with nature that reflect the way Atlantic rain forest was designed and meant to be in nature. Don't miss it it is just too good.
Jones and Thomas in conjunction with BSE will made our holiday really interesting and memorable.
