Have always used this library and attended lots of their groups. My kids love coming here, it takes quite some time to convince them to leave. The staff are always great, they are very helpful and friendly. We need to support our Libraries

Love Stitch is perfect for browsing beautiful Liberty fabrics and Debbie Bliss yarns (amongst others). Lots of nik-naks, buttons, needles and other haberdashery bits and pieces. It's like an Aladdin's Cave. The owner Sue is so friendly and helpful, as are the rest of the staff. Home made cakes are available from the cafe as well as sandwiches, wraps and hot or cold drinks. They also serve a lovely afternoon tea although it's best to pre-book this. What could be better than enjoying a lovely coffee and slice of cake whilst looking at a beautiful shop? Highly recommended!!

Needs a good clean, filthy carpets, all areas need cleaning, food overpriced, basically a rip off,£4.50 per child, £1.90 for a cup of watery coffee,

The Wirral is a splinter of land that sits between the inlets of the Dee Estuary and the River Mersey. There are many great golf courses dotted along this peninsula and last week I was lucky enough (considering the time of year) to play at Heswall Golf Club.
Heswall itself is typically Wirralesque. As you enter the village it's clear that we are in one of the wealthier towns of the North west and millionaire mansions flank every street. It's a very pretty place. Navigate your way through the gargantuan playground of the rich (the club is well signposted) and you'll find your way to Heswall GC. As you park you'll already be blown away by the view of the Dee and the North Wales coast which fills your line of sight as far as you can see.
A very resplendent clubhouse sits at the top of a gently sloping hillside to the coastline and from the looks of the practice facilities you already know you can expect a good day.
After sampling the attentive hospitality in the clubhouse it's time for action. Heswall is not a links course irrelevant of it's coast side nature. There are brief references but for the most part it is a parkland affair. And a good one.
Certainly not overly long the course does provide a good enough test with narrow, tree-lined fairways and a reasonable smattering of water hazards to cause concern. We were playing in the early part of November and whilst the course had received a fair "watering" that week from mother nature it was in pretty good shape, only the odd muddy lie here and there which was more than acceptable for the time of year.
The greens had been treated fairly recently but were still more than adequately playable and a good score, on the front nine at least, is more than possible. The opening six holes are tightish off the tee but not too harsh. Once at the seventh and the water hazards start to become more prominent, even a short par-3 (7th) appears daunting as you need to carry the water all the way to the green to avoid a reload. Again at the short par-4 eighth hole, what looks like an easy test on the card is more taxing than it appears once you reach your approach into a green guarded diligently by a large pond.
And so it continues with water features and doglegs more apparent on the back nine. None of the water is there for the sake of it and all hazards are very much part of the test at Heswall.
The closing holes difficulty is compounded by a gradual climb back up to the clubhouse and your stamina is tested as a consequence making for a good finish which requires discipline and concentration, just as it should be.
Heswall isn't cheap as a visitor (I played in a society so less expensive) but nonetheless is very enjoyable. The staff in the shop and in the bar were very pleasant and the facilities overall were very good too.
If you're in this neck of the woods it is certainly a course worth trying even if it's not quite as renowned as some of it's neighbours. The views alone are well worth the fee.

The Dee View is a traditional Pub located in the heart of Heswall, we pride ourselves in making your visit to us a special one. We have a warm and welcoming full sized restaurant available for bookings and a bar that provides fine wines and beers. Also we have a large beer garden for all the family to enjoy! Hope to see you soon!
The pub itself is very nice for people under 6ft. That's actually a lie, it's cramped, stinks and some of the "regulars" are interesting to say the least. The one redeeming feature is the bar staff who on the whole are friendly and efficient

I used to work in Heswall and enjoyed going in here on many occasions,
The staff are really helpful. The prices are reasonable and they do stock some excellent quality wines and champagnes.
I recommend a visit here should you have a special occasion pending and wish to impress your guests with some beautiful grape,

My earlier review on this venue was very positive, however we have visited on a number of occasions more recently and found that the place has really deteriorated. The music has gone really naff, the bouncers are abrupt and we were charged £3 entrance fee which we refused to pay as we have supported the bar every weekend throughout the winter and don't see why we should have to pay this, when we said we wouldn't pay the bouncer said he would only charge us for one, we refused this and walked away on principal! We will not be returning, there are much better places to drink in Heswall... Sort out your bouncers and stop charging your loyal locals who support your bar in the quiet months or you will lose them too.
