Overlooking the Dee Estuary and the Welsh Mountains, Sheldrakes boasts a stunning location. Voted 'One of the Top 20 Places to Dine by the Sea' in The Sunday Times, spectacular sunsets, seductive scenery and a relaxed friendly atmosphere rival that of any Spanish bar or Greek taverna. Enjoy classic Mediterranean cuisine, a hearty Sunday roast, or take traditional afternoon tea on the Terrace. The Mediterranean-style bar offers specialist wines, an extensive range of beers, local cask ales and exotic cocktails.
My 4th visit to Sheldrakes over the last 5 years, and there was a noticeable fall in quality. The place is starting to look a bit scruffy and could possibly do with a bit of TLC. The service was excellent with very polite and efficient staff. However, the quality of the meals we had were ok and nothing more. I was really looking forward to having the mussels, as I have had them Every time I have visited and they are usually delicious. This time however , they where very average . The main courses were nice, but nothing special.
This restaurant was once up there with the best on the Wirral, but now there are many better places to eat. All in All, it wasn't a bad lunch, but it wasn't great either.

Our menu changes with the seasons and is modern British, comfortably interwoven with some Mediterranean influences. It ranges from traditional favourites such as fish and chips and steaks to freshly made pizzas and pastas with the chef’s daily specials showcasing the finest market fresh ingredients. There’s something for everyone and for all occasions too. You don’t have to go for the full works if you don’t want to, just have a snack and a lovely drink in the bar with your friends.Wine is something of a passion for us and nothing pleases us more than when we unearth a new discovery that blows our socks off! We’ve got everything from crisp refreshing whites, trendy pinks to fat juicy reds by the bottle or glass so we are really looking forward to your reaction to all the latest treasures! We are also very proud of our beers and we have a great selection of cask ales, super chilled draft and bottled beers to quench your thirst.Just stop by for a pint of ale, read the papers and chill out or book a table and enjoy simple food prepared with care.
Visited the Devon Doorway on Sunday afternoon and had the most amazing roast with my boyfriend. Never had such a nice roast dinner in a pub or restaurant! Also tried cauliflower cheese for the first time and I'm now converted! Service was amazing and the whole atmosphere was lovely especially due to the live singer Natalie! Will definitely be back soon! X

For starters the ambience is really magical with various lighting tricks to give an atmosphere in keeping with the winter season and also a musical soundtrack to go along with it. It’s all quite unobtrusive but hugely impressive.
The food is fantastic, you get a bare bones menu that hints at what’s to come but there are plenty of surprises. The bread that comes with the meal is sumptuous, light and very very tasty. Hard to pick a favourite course, might be the salmon, or the cod or the quail, or maybe the onion. The trick here is that they are pushing the boundaries of technique but unlike some “too clever for their own good” chefs you still get a fantastic tasting and filling meal. No sacrificing a decent dinner on the altar of art at Fraiche.
Service was excellent and the maitre d/sommelier was spot in with his recommendations and also took time to speak to all their guests.
All in all a truly fabulous experience.

This shop has a well deserved reputation throughout the Wirral for its variety of delicious flavours and consistent good quality. SItuated on the popular Seafront Promenade, it's even busy in the colder weather.
Part of the shop sells hard candies in the old fashioned glass jars and specialty chocolates are also featured among their offerings.

This stylish restaurant has been attracting diners from Merseyside and beyond since 2002. The minimalist dcor, with cream leather seats, dark wood flooring and red banquettes is guaranteed to impress, and it is the perfect place for dates, special occasions or business functions. The menu is creative and delicious, and favourites include the soft duck egg served on a toasted crumpet with bacon lardons, the banana curry, and the wok fried barbary duck breast with noodles and seasonal greens. The upstairs dining room can be hired for private parties, and the Terrace is equipped with heaters and can be enjoyed all year around.
First time visit. Went online Fine Dining. Had crabcakes and black puddi g for starters. Very nice. And crab and steak mains. Absolutely delish. Steak melted in mouth. Desserts lemon drizzle and tarte aux citron. Couldn't fault anything. GREAT food and being Tuesday 50 % off. Waitresses very friendly and polite. Worth the trip. Recommend this place!

We had a lovely evening celebrating my friends 40th birthday here. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating especially as I sprung additional access requirements literally at the last minute on the waitress upon arrival. She sorted everything straight away with no fuss, nothing was too much trouble. Delicious food and great service. A fantastic evening!

Love this restaurant but have never been out for Christmas dinner before so wasn’t sure what it would be like. Firstly the restaurant were amazing about accommodating two extras unexpectedly as I know that I had booked way back in October and they had to make a special effort. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere when we got there and the table looked great! Crackers were of excellent quality as was the service- I was driving but there are some lovely alcohol free cocktails and also there is never a problem taking unfinished wine/prosecco home with you which we did. As ever the food was superb! Including canapés and tea/coffee with petit fours there were eight courses. I absolutely loved my starter of mozzarella and cassava beignet , so tasty and light and this was followed by a traditional Turkey dinner with all the trimmings including bread sauce-fab! Some found the pre dessert a bit tart but I loved it and was ready then for my dessert of gingerbread Mille fuille which was delicious even if a bit difficult to break some layers. Even grandma had dessert! She originally said no but changed her mind and enjoyed the chocolate and yoghurt which was really light. Much to our amazement we were even able to enjoy the cheese board but took the mince pies home with us! At no stage were we rushed and as usual the service was attentive and friendly . The best bit was having no cooking stress and no dishes to do when I got home-priceless! I was amazed to hear that the price of all this was the same as a local pub - no comparison so in my opinion it was excellent quality and value for money! A special visit indeed. Thanks to all concerned!

Manufacturer and retailer of Ice Cream. We have been trading for over 30 years. We are a local family run business. We have developed and increased the business in the 30 years due to selling quality product and providing a good service.
Have used Nichols in the past, but here, the ice cream is just s good, there are no queues, and the service is excellent and very friendly. And there are chairs outside if you want to avoid trying to cross the busy road to sit on the sea wall!
