Love their pizza and in winter they make the best soup. Small play area for the kids. Very friendly staff

We booked our reservation a month in advance, for our dinner...specifically, for 1830 (6:30pm), to capture the sunset. We arrived an hour ahead, to have drinks at the leopard bar, which was fantastic..the service, amazing. However..when we arrived for our reservation, we got informed that we got the furthest seat for two in the restaurant..from any window...in fact...way in the back next to the wine storage...no window in sight. In addition, we ordered the tasting menu, & it was well beyond 8pm before we saw the 2nd course....& the staff..not engaging or helpful...We've traveled the world..& have had some of the best culinary experiences ever, in cape town..this was dismal. The location is first class..the service, & quite frankly, the food...3rd class. Would recommend Leopard Bar for drinks..but then leave...not worth the price.

Between 1835 and 1849 the Kronendal Farm was owned by Sir William Josias Cloete. Legend has it that the homestead is haunted by his daughter Elsa Cloete who died of a broken heart after being forbidden to marry her soldier lover. Kitima still sets and serves a table for Elsa with samples from the menu to appease Elsa's spirit. Welcome to Kitima restaurant where oriental elegance and hospitality meet the unpretentious grace and charm of Africa. Our authentic Thai and Asian Fusion cuisine, prepared by our Thai chefs will carry you to a world of exotic spices, perfumes and all that’s precious and exotic. Various dining option are available from our private lover’s room Seating 2-6 persons, our VIP room Seating up to 12 persons, our Temple and Bangkok rooms as well as the Raya lounge for cocktails, drinks, snacks or even dinner to share. Kitima exudes all the splendour of a traditional Cape Dutch homestead with yellowwood ceilings, wooden floors combined with modern Asian artefacts and cuisine. Our cocktail list is extensive and features a number of award winners that are both stunning in taste and appeal. The restaurant has the addition of the garden and the Raya Terrace which are unique covered areas that are available, however these are weather permitting. We invite you to have a taste of true Thai cuisine in a traditional and modernised South African homestead.
We have dined at Kitima every year for over 10 years during our annual vacation from England. Tonight was no exception.
Gone was the friendly reception as we entered. When we entered the bar we noticed that it was much quieter than normal for a Friday night. The service & food were good, but oh dear, the reason for Kitima being so quiet is that the prices have risen enormously. As for the wines.........!
It transpires that last September some British restaurant chain bought Kitima from the family owners which had ruined our once, favourite restaurant.
Sadly, like many other people, we won't be back

After taking to numerous people we were recommended Massimo’s... we arrived early and our son enjoyed the kids area a lot...
But an hour later we still didn’t have any food, then when I asked if they could at least get the kids pizza through it arrived and was cold already (been sitting around) most of the rest of the food then arrived but the final dish only arrived when we asked where it was... so the starter arrived after we had finished mains!
Apparently they were understaffed so be careful of when you go?? Not sure how you check that!

We take our food extreme seriously. We make everything from scratch. We do not buy anything other than raw ingredients and free range meats. We produce things that we want to eat ourselves. We cook to feed and to share, applying the same instincts as a home cooked meal, made with lots of love.
Having regularly enjoyed the occasional breakfast here over several years, sorry to see the standards dropping. The hands-on management that used to be very visible has disappeared- at least on Sunday mornings- is absent, and the the adverse effects are tangible. It took nearly an hour to get our breakfast order ( for just 2 persons) served.

This place is known for its sundowner experience, but a signature cocktail called the Atlantic Sunset and the margarita were both subpar, in our opinions. We did not finish them. Staff members were very pleasant and we appreciated the table reservation, as we were celebrating a birthday. But another staff member then moved a table directly in front of our window and a large man blocked the view. Ah, well. So life goes.

Capital Cape colonial country cooking at its finest!
We enjoyed a quite amazing Sunday buffet lunch from Quentin and his team at Oakhurst Barn today. Honestly, the buffet from starters to mains of beef, Duck and line fish of the day were superb, beautifully cooked and presented. Further the table service was equally courteous, professional and attentive. The dessert of dark chocolate caramel tart with the various tempting full fat ice creams on offer was out of this world. We washed our superb buffet lunch down with a stunning bottle of Iona Sauvignon Blanc. A lovely relaxed and welcoming ambience added to our lovely Sunday afternoon lunch with a great choice of discrete music playing in the background. We lived it and can't wait to return next visit. 10 out of 10 for everything. A real treat. outstanding. Well done Quentin and his entire team. These Scottish diners enjoyed our meal and time at your wonderful restaurant.
