Hamlet Mountaineering offers bespoke trips across the North West Highlands. From sea kayaking and canoeing to hill walking and rock climbing.
We booked a day of canoeing with Hamlet mountaineering in Achiltibuie. We were with a very mixed group which added to the experience.
Everything was provided except lunch and it seemed very organised /professional without being too structured. The quality of the equipment was good and supervision/assistance was excellent. I would strongly recommend this outing for any age and any level of canoeing experience. Word of advice...take a much bigger lunch than you think you will want and a camera.

We travelled quite a way to visit this beach and it didn't disappoint. It was the most beautiful, cloudless February day and the colour of the sea took my breath away. We almost had the beach completely to ourselves, it felt very special to be there.
The lovely white sand is very clean and it is so nice just to take a bit of time here enjoying the beauty. My other half took a quick stroll over the little hill to see the neighbouring, equally gorgeous little beach.
The single track road here was quiet when we visited, would imagine it can get busy in the summer months. Unfortunately on the day of our visit the Ladies toilet was locked. Had to use the Gents which unfortunately were both quite blocked up, although there was loo paper and paper towels!
So glad we went as it is just a magical place.

After a very pretty drive through the Highlands you come to the Knockan Crag Reserve that offers some wonderful views, a few short and relatively easy hikes, and some great and fascinating information about geological history uncovered there. This is a great place to stop.

This is leisurely walk, first following the babbling river, then climbing the valley to a view of the falls. The walk is just under 3.5 km one way on a mostly good path. Besides the falls, there are some lovely views and birding opportunities. There's a little parking lot across from the trail head.

Two galleries and a Sculpture garden set on the beautiful peninsular of Rhue, three miles north of Ullapool. The east gallery exhibits landscape paintings by James Hawkins, the west gallery has a changing exhibition program of artists from the UK and Europe.
We are so glad we have at last visited this wonderful gallery - a long overdue visit as we have been to Ullapool regularly over the past few years. We were delighted to meet the host artist James Hawkins who showed us his collection and...MoreThank you for your detailed review, it was a pleasure to meet you both and I look forward to catching up next year.

Invercruises is a small boat tour and fishing trip business Working from the beautiful village of Lochinver. Take a trip on the 31 foot "Ros Kynoch" around Europe's last true Wilderness taking in breathtaking scenery and all the wildlife it has to offer in its true and wild habitat. Also on offer are relaxed family fishing trips catching whatever the minch has on offer!
Lochinver Harbour has a mix of pleasure boats and working boats. Sailing with Inver Cruises was great because the two guys were motivated and genuinely wanted to show off the beauty that is to be seen by sailing along the coast of Lochinver. The "sailor" never rocked the boat ! The other "sailor" spoke about the sea life (saw the seal colony), the geological history of the ancient rock and for me, best was the story he told of the man who built a house in the rock. When the tour was over, we went to see it for ourselves and it was so interesting. A great time had by all!

If and when my knees are up to it, I want to hike this beauty, surrounded as it is by such incredibly gorgeous Scottish scenery.

If you are walking the dog beware of the Ticks, we spent less than an hour waking through the woods to find out dog had picked up 4 ticks !!! Add to that, Ticks like humans too, I guess we just got lucky there...
