Gura Humorului (Romanian pronunciation: [ˌɡura huˈmoruluj]; Hebrew and Yiddish: גורה חומורולוי - Gur’ Humuruluei or גורא הומאָרא - Gur' Humura; German and Polish: Gura Humora) is a town in Suceava County, north-eastern Romania. It is situated in the historical region of Bukovina. Gura Humorului is the seventh largest urban settlement in the county, with a population of 12,729 inhabitants, according to the 2011 census. It was declared a town in 1904 and it became a resort in 2005. The town administers the former village of Voroneț (which became a neighborhood), site of Voroneț Monastery.

The Voroneț Monastery is a medieval monastery in the Romanian village of Voroneț, now a part of the town Gura Humorului. It is one of the famous painted monasteries from southern Bukovina, in Suceava County.The monastery was constructed by Stephen the Great in 1488 over a period of 3 months and 3 weeks to commemorate the victory at Battle of Vaslui. Often known as the "Sistine Chapel of the East", the frescoes at Voroneț feature an intense shade of blue known in Romania as "Voroneț blue."
It is possible to take pictures at the outside. Inside you have to pay for it and it is hard to do it is to dark.
It is a visit not to miss if you are in the area.

We specifically drove to Bucovina for these monasteries......and they ARE sensational.....but by the time we arrived here, given what else we had seen....we felt monastery'd out! Humor is not as well preserved as Voronet......but you are so close to both.....just DO IT.

A guide took you through the small museum and explained all the displays in detail. It was very informative and her English was excellent. It provide a nice introduction and insight into the culture.

If you need to escape from the perpetual noize of the town, an weekend here could be an option. Location is perfect, staff friendly and chef - a good one. Local dishes have an interesting taste. From breackfast to dinner, here in Bucovina they have gorgeous receipts. If you turn back with at least one more kilo added, it looks that you were lucky!

We made a couple of trails on a road trip we've planned from Maramures to Moldova.
A single activity which suited us well in the area of Gura Humorului. Fills you up with energy, gives you thrills while stepping on moving chains and increase you level of joy and adrenaline!
6 trails. First 3 easy, 4-5 medium and 6 difficult. I could tell that even the 5th without practice could be hard.
Security quite well explained and surveilled by the team members.
What can i add more!? Go do it!
