We came to visit our friends Aitor and Sarah in Xcalak, and definitely have some dives. The team that Aitor manage, the DMTs and the instructors makes you feel cozy. All the experiences and knowledge that Aitor has as a PADI Course Director is the perfect example of how you should treat trainees and clients. We wish them the best of the luck and keep them in our heart. Thanks again for share your time with us this couple of days. See you soon Aitor and Sarah, smile, you are great people.

The Flats Fly Fishing Guide Services are a full service guide and groups sales booking site for Xcalak, Mexico.
This is the second year I've arranged with Alex Beck to go out after permit with Evaristo. Last year was very good, but this year was even better. Alex made all the arrangements for me and my fishing buddy Paul faultlessly, and we had 4 great days with Evaristo chasing permit both inside and outside Chetumal Bay. Evaristo has the most amazing eyes for spotting permit where you or I would see nothing, and then is great at manoeuvring the boat into a position where you can get a really good shot at the fish. I really like getting out of the boat and wading after the fish - I find you can get much closer to the permit without spooking them that way - and Evaristo was always quick to get me into the water when there was an opportunity. The result was that we caught permit! What more can you ask for?!! So I have already booked to go out with Evaristo again next year - he's a great guide!

We had great fishing on our trip to Xcalak—-even though the elusive permit remained that way, we caught a wide variety of fish—many bone fish and snook, as well as barracuda, tarpon, snapper, yellowtail jack and a number of others. We fished for six days with a break of one day in the middle and had good weather, generally, with no rain and only one overcast day. The wind blew nearly every hour we were there, but the bays and lagoons offer shelter and we found our spots. We had three different guides during our time there: Victor; his son, Andres; and their associate, Alberto. Victor works out of Xcalak, and is senior of the three. Andres grew up on these waters, and Alberto has been guiding them for thirteen years. No lack of experience here. In addition, the older two men worked as commercial lobster divers before they became fishing guides. This is almost always sight-fishing, and these men are very keen indeed. Even after several days, I was only picking up perhaps a third of the fish they were seeing. If you learn to handle and haul a nine-weight accurately up to 70’, then all will be well. Weather and season permitting, if you go out with any of these gentlemen, you’re going to catch fish. I’ll mention that there are hundreds of square miles of sandy flats, very blue and beautiful. On one occasion. we saw a fever of up to forty rays moving together. Apparently, when the rays stir up the bottom, they attract feeding bone fish, so look for milky water. If you’re wading be prepared: wear foot protection and slowly shuffle along when moving. Victor tells me that while guiding us, he sighted the biggest ray he had seen in these waters for many years. He estimated at well over five feet in width. Shuffle along, that is.

Wow, what more can I say.. the most sensational massage I have ever had, not only is Liesa an awesome masseuse but her and her husband are excellent hosts too, we thoroughly enjoyed our week in beautiful Xcalac. I could not recommend this newly opened establishment more. I look forward to holidaying with them again next year. Keep up the fantastic work.

Tour company offering scuba diving, snorkeling and bird watching excursions.
My husband and I, along with another couple, went snorkeling with Luis and it was so much fun! The water was so clear and there were so many different kinds of fish. We even saw an eel and a spotted eagle ray! The boat picked us up and dropped us off at the dock in front of our VRBO - so convenient and it was very reasonably priced. Luis speaks English, knows so much about the marine life and is very easy to work with - highly recommend!

This is a great way to get around the area and you will not get lost. If you book online it is $75 for the day and it holds four people. If you rent at the port is is rented by the hour and will cost you that much for just 4 hours. You give them a $10 deposit via paypal to hold your reservation. We stopped at a very nice beach club and spent a couple of hours there swiming and having lunch and drinks.
Located at the Southern most tip of Mexico’s COSTA MAYA on the Caribbean shores. Established in 2013, we are proud to announce that we were the first artisanal brewery and distillery in the state of Quintana Roo. After a well needed vacation in Seattle, hopping from brew pub to brew pub…pairing all kinds of beers and oysters…we were addicted.
