Gateway to Belize, Tikal in Guatemala and the numerous Río Bec ruins, Chetumal is the capital of Quintana Roo state. Buses connect major cities, including those in Belize. Rental cars cannot be taken through the Belize border. The busy city's old town boasts a Caribbean feel. The excellent, interactive Museo de la Cultura Maya offers fascinating insights to those planning to follow the dramatic Río Bec ruin route. The vine-strewn ruins are rich in wildlife and give the sense of stumbling onto a Lost World.

Found it on Foursquare and several other sites, all the others are Spanish sites.
Conveniently located near the market. ate here twice in one week.Complimentary seafood soup is amazing. Portions are very very large. Twelve large coconut shrimp in one order with amazing mango salsa. Shrimp ceviches and cocktails are huge. A medium order can easily split between two people for an entree. Guacamole is great and portion is very large, sides of rice and beans are awesome. Service outstanding. Very nice clean bathrooms. We will be back!

Close to Malecon(Bay)and in one corner of "Parque de los Caimanes park" on Alvaro obregon Avenue with 16september street. The restaurant is trying to rescue traditional mexican-regional cuisine with innovation from chefs. Located in one of the treasures of Chetumal, A traditional Historical Wood house with more than 80 years, inside can admire original photos of the old Chetumal from more than 100 years.
You won't find better service in Chetumal than at La Casita del Chef. This little restaurant is hugely popular with locals and even when it's a hive of activity the staff are still super attentive to each table, from settling you in to your table to opening the door for you when you leave. It's reasonably priced, nothing crazy cheap, but it's air-conditioned and the food is really tasty. Would definitely recommend as a great place to come for breakfast, but be warned, it's that popular that you could have to wait a couple of minutes for a table.

This restaurant is truly wonderfully decorated with leadlight windows. I only had breakfast there, but they also make wood fired pizzas and steaks. The staff pays good customer attention. Price range is medium. Its location is circa 3 blocks to the Malecon.

Big, popular restaurant serving Mexican food. Excellent service and attention from personnel. A great fun environment as there is live music. Cheap prices as $3, $4, $5 dishes. We ordered a “queso fundido” with al pastor meat, incredible! Also “sopes” with grilled meat and chicharron, excellent! The speciallity dish is baked potato served with different ingredients as chorizo, al pastor meat, etc. I had the best “frozen horchata” in my life for $1.50! Amazing! Highly recommended!

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think our first waitress spoke Spanish... And we went early on a Saturday while it was raining so the atmosphere was quiet...
However - as someone who has been to Turkey and eats Turkish food also in the US what they had on their menu was well cooked and I would 100% go back.
Yum!

Just north of Chetumal is a lovely waterfront village named Calderitas. Along the waterfront probably 15-18 restaurants. Tortugas is one of them. With a wonderful view of the water and people enjoying the sand surf & sun you can enjoy a wonderful meal, reasonably priced and with friendly service. Tortugas also offers Wifi access, which is really nice!! The staff is very attentive and some of the waiters speak a bit of English, but I tell them I need to practice my Spanish. The offer a Kabob that is almost a meal for 2. Most of the dishes are large portions! It's one of my favorite places to take folks that are visiting or just in the area shopping for the day.

Was very surprised at the good steakhouse we stopped in at. You typically get a skiing overcooked stead in MX, but this one was juicy and a thick cut. It was cooked on a fire pit just in front of the building so you can see it all happen. Very pleased with the food and service.

Desde los mas finos cortes, hasta la mas selecta receta de pescado. Contamos tambien con un extenso surtido de vinos para maridaje y una barra de cocteles y bebidas que acompanaran adecuadamente el platillo de su preferencia.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. As a starter we had a salad and it was amazing. The combination of arugula with pear and a thin layer of cream cheese drizzled with honey was superb. We both had the Filet...MoreThank you so much for visit our restaurant. Your opinion it's too important for us!! We will take your recomendation seriously. Thanks for coming, and I hope you'll come back really soon.

We tried and find a nice place in Chetumal without success so we returned to the restaurant at our hotel which turned to be a surprise. Food was surprisingly good. Rather a mid class restaurant with a varied menu: meat, mexican, mex-italian, etc. Desserts fantastic. Only the service was terrible. The waiter was not really interested in selling more e.g. dessert, more beer, etc. he forgot half of what we ordered, etc. He was not "mean" just a bit slow I guess.
But overall a positive surprise. If you are staying at hotel Noor for the night I recommend to eat here (try the "mexican" creme brûlée-fantastic) and continue your trip the next morning.
