No complaints about the food, drinks or service - - all actually pretty good. but the non-guest lagoon access policy is silly - - there were no guests whatsoever using the lagoon facilities for at least an hour prior to it being opened up to...MoreHi KAP Only guests have unlimited access to our lagoon area. Commensal have after fourteen hours, by hotel policies. But we will keep your comment in mind. Thanks for your visit

“Los Hechizos”, a casual shorefront palapa restaurant and bar serve exquisite cuisine daily. Our experienced Cheff, has set a menu inspired by the mayan with local ingredients and international standards. Our breakfast menu features tropical fruits, home-made breads and mermalades, fresh orange juice and rich Mexican coffee. Dinners are served with a variety of options, including fresh seafood, chicken & meat. Vegetarian cuisine can be arranged. Opens daily 7:30 a.m - 9:30 p.m.
The restaurant is gorgeous and romantic. It has a beautiful view, and it is in a quiet spot. The food was very good, and our waiter was very nice. The problem we had was when we arrived at the hotel. Rather than being greeted in a polite manner, we were told that non-hotel guests were not being seated at the restaurant due to the fact that they were very busy and did not have space. After a couple of minutes, they decided to go ahead and let us dine. The restaurant was pretty empty, because we arrived early in the evening. After we paid for our meal and started to make our way out of the restaurant, my husband asked the bar tender if he could point him in the direction of the bathroom. Rather than answer the question, the bar tender asked, "Have you paid?" We do not know why we were treated so rudely upon arrival and exit from the hotel.

Small family-run Italian restaurant, special attention to use of raw materials of good quality, the absence of preservatives and colorants and not least the respect of the times and the procedures of manufacture of our products makes it possible offer: bread, pasta , sauces, sausage and tiramisu of our production.
Pizza was good, but the place was a little crowded and I didn’t receive service for a long amount of time. Luckily the owner noticed and sprung into action and took my order herself. The pizza has a nice flavor but nothing extraordinary. Would go back, but not alone.

La Playita is a project born in 2012 in view of a big need in Bacalar: a place to eat, swim and spend the day in a great atmosphere, better music, a few good hammocks and an unbeatable turquoise view. Located on the shore of the seven colors lagoon, La Playita offers a latin fusion menu, with speciality in quality fingerfood. Prime raw material, a golden team and lots of attitude makes our space an undefeated favorite in Bacalar. Surrounded by a dense nature, a vast tropical garden, an inmense rubber tree and lots of regional colors, La Playita is a place that you'll take with you and won't easily forget. Come and see it for yourself. La Playita is Bacalar.
We were in town for two days and had dinner here the first night. Food was very good and so we came back for lunch the next day. The restaurant is right in the water with incredible trees providing cover. Service was attentive and food came quickly. Would definitely recommend.

Slightly off the beaten track but the tacos are unbeatable and at 13 pesos with cheese and 10 without you really can't go wrong. They were 10/10.
Tip: locals eat slightly later so doesn't start to get busy until about 8.15/30 from our experience but definitely make a visit!

What a fabulous restaurant! Noisy, fast and furious, but with exceptionally friendly, efficient staff serving the BEST seafood in Bacalar. We ate here twice and wished we had found this gem earlier. Sure it's noisy and frenetic, but its' on the main road and this IS Mexico, after all. Very highly recommended

My 12 year old daughter and I split the arrachera plate which was delicious. I also had some meszcal that was very good. The only drawback besides being cash only was that they had run out of their desserts (much to my daughter's chagrin).
Oh lastly, be sure you know how to speak Spanish (I know this review was done in English). In general most people do not speak English in Bacalar.
All in all a good spot.

Restaurant Bar & Marina on the shores of Laguna Bacalar. Casual Terrace specializes in fish and seafood. Offers a variety of ceviches, seafood cocktails, fish & Srimp tacos and fried fish.
We enjoyed our lunch here very much. The guacamole was fresh and generous, the shrimp aquachili was delicious. We sat on the lawn under a tiny palapa next to the water. Service was prompt, friendly, and efficient. The grounds are beautifully maintained and many of the trees are labeled. The tree near the entrance is worth visiting even if you aren't stopping for a drink or a meal: the trunk must be at least 15 feet thick and the nearly horizontal side branches at least 6 feet thick. It is an astoundingly large tree!

Extremely warm, friendly and helpful service. Free wifi, fruit and muffins for breakfast and coffee/tea service all day included. We stayed for two nights and didn't want to leave. Our cabana was nestled on the lake between mangrove trees and a few other Cabanas. We had an incredibly comfortable bed, large pillows and mosquito netting. The ceiling fan and lake breeze kept us cool and comfy. Our back door opened to a couple of steps leading down to a little "patio/pier" on the water. We had two large chaise lounge chairs and lots of privacy. This place is very well cared for and there's lots to see and do. We enjoyed just lounging on our deck and enjoying the beautiful crystal clear waters of Lake Bacalar. The mutalenos (sp?) which is a breakfast dish with eggs, tortilla chips, a tomato based sauce with cheese, black beans and green peas was delicious. The only negative part of our stay was our dinner. We love seafood and were very disappointed with the spiciness of the sea bass and the quality of the tuna. On the bright side, the beets were really good.

A classic italian ice cream parloir. With pop up pizza's slides, focaccia, cakes, and of course expresso, capuccino and more every day. Brand new the attached grocery shop with wines, beers, alchool and Italian gourmet food at fair price.
Thank goodness for this little gelato shop. The internet was crappy where we stayed so we came here to get a treat and go online. No a/c though.....it can get hot! Sit under the fan or outside if there is a breeze.......
