a fun walk for your family with lamas, discovering the beautiful Mountains of Valloire (Savoie), in winter and in summer. free for little children, who will walk handing their lama : they will surprise you !
Very happy to have come back to Valloire in winter to do another hike with Gilles and his llamas. Gilles was cheerful as always, explaining the needs of the llamas patiently to the children (of whom he immediately knew the names) and making the adults very happy with his picknick of local cheeses, charcuterie and of course wine. His English is excellent, so surely to be recommended for an international public as well.

Been there with family (including a 7 year-old kid) and friends last February. Great place for mountain ski: the resort offers several trails, especially blues and reds, including some blacks. I really like the european concept: ski is a sport so, you take care of yourself and decide if that specific trail isn't too red for your skills!! The trails are beautiful, especially when the sun shines on the Alps. Also, the resort offers some interesting amenities for refreshment after hours of skiing. Hope to be back soon.

The adventure of aluminium in the Alps ! In the Maurienne, where aluminium has been mined since the end of the 19th C, Espace Alu is dedicated to the history of the multi-purpose metal. Discover its importance within science, industry, commerce, culture and society.
This museum was part of a day excursion that friends from our village organized. This museum is for real science buffs and wannabes. Explained are all aspects of the process to turn bauxite into aluminium. The guides are extremely knowledgeable, ours having worked in the industry and the area most of his life. The museum is very interactive - fun for older children. There is also a very attractive room showing the various products that are of this material. Even bought two small souveniers for my grandchildren.

situated in the pays de maurienne welcomes you in a typical savoyard village, between the Col du Telegraph and Col du galibier Valloire station "Jean Baptiste Grange" for walking and hiking. Try it, discover the thrill of gyropode segway.Company, group, CE, community give a new dimension to your incentives.Custom ride and day contact us.open all year - accessible to all (from 14 years)
balade super sympa dans la station et de plus sur la neige ce qui donne un peu de piquant car il faut être très modéré avec l'engin , cependant l'instructeur est là aux petits soins donc no problème même pour les novices du segway.

Been up this road by car in all weathers and always wanted to cycle it. Job done, an amazing ride up from col de Lauterat in brilliant weather. Did it on mountain bike and then did the off road descent all way back to Villarr d'Arene where we had parked.
At 2642m and with a famous Tour de France history Galibier should be on every cyclists bucket list. Providing you take it steady any half fit cyclist can make it to the top.
There are several cafe at bottom of Galibier climb so can top up water bottle and eat. The food and coffee are nothing special which we found depressingly typical in our whole week in the Alps.

It was our first time skiing in France. Before that we used to ski in Poland and Slovakia. We visited Galibier-Thabor area on 21st-26th March 2015. We stayed in Grand Panorama 1 in Valmeinier. We skied on all of the Mountains of Valmeinier and Valloire.
Snow quality last week of March is acceptable. At altitudes 2000-2600m skiing is OK all day, below 2000m you can have fun before noon, maybe 1pm. Later it was too wet.
There are some slow lifts, some fast lifts. None of them are "state of the art" - no heated seats, no wind covers. A few older lifts are uncomfortable for a tall person. Favourite lifts: Moneul, Brive 2, Cornafond.
Some of the pistes were surprisingly narrow (especially some green and blue ones). About 15 out of 89 were closed (many black closed). As an intermediate skier I liked the red pistes, many of those were a lot of fun! Aigle, Pervenche, Tetras, Blaireau.
The views are beautiful - wonderful Mountains! Be sure to take Armera at least once. I also recommend Selles - it's very easy, but views are amazing.
Prices for hot chocolate in the bars: 3.50€-4.90€.

Col de galibier, frequently on the tour de France, always wanted to see it. Runs between Valloire and Villar d'arene. Was closed to vehicles when I was there, but you could walk it. Apparently its only open from June to September. you are in God's company here

Enjoy the snow another way. Enjoy the peace and quiet. Enjoy the wild life. Lovely natural area for walking.
