we came here twice during our week long ski vacation
the menu is fairly diverse, from burgers to pizzas, including typical dishes from the alps: fondue, raclette...
prices are fairly standard. not cheap, not crazy expensive
make sure you reserve in advance. it does get crowded

Went here for a small dinner and was not impressed. Ordered the €16 euro burger and chips (the cheapest) and it arrived cold and completely uncooked in the middle. Asked for it to be cooked and the waitress obliged. Came out and was cooked properly. For the price you'd expect better service and properly cooked food. Waited for a long time to get attention for anything.

The service didn t exist . We feelt unwellcome and unappreciate. Owner were rude and arrogant. All questions were to chanellenging for waitress she was uncompetent and she ignorde us. Food was excelent but pricey. We were thinking all the time about leaving during the dinner. It didn t even went throu our minds to concider staying for dessert.

Probably the most traditional restaurant of the Valloire (Galibier) valley. Located at 15 min from the centre of Valloire, the restaurant is established in an old building (probably a farm) showing various craftsmen tools used in the valley a long time ago. You will not have a very large selection of dishes (although there is an interesting variety) but those on the menu are really local and made with selected products of the region. We were warmly welcomed and if you talk with the boss you will learn some interesting things over the area.
Maybe the price/quality is a little high.

Really good food and atmosphere. Not fancy stuff but good tasty local dishes. Staff really friendly. A little bit smoky (not cigarette smoke but smoke from grills) but we had a really good relaxing evening. Would definitely go back next time we're in Valloire.

In the Alpine world, lunch on the slopes is one of three things: your own packed lunch, a terrible and over-priced bowl of overcooked spaghetti bolognese, or a massive sit down lunch that lasts most of the afternoon. Les Meregers is different, specifically it is none of those things.
A friend of mine recommended this restaurant's pizzas to me at least a dozen times, and I finally got round to going. I could instantly see what she was on about: home made, wood fired pizzas, cooked over a proper heat. The crust was still crispy even by the end of the meal, always a sign that proper ingredients were used and, although my pizza was supposed to come with peppers, they had run out and replaced them with olives instead. These still provided a welcome change in texture and taste, adding to the variety of the pizza. The fact that it was too big for the plate was entertaining too!
Factor into that the large outside decking in full view of the Aiguille d'Arves, and you have one of the best stops in the Valmeinier/Valloire ski area.

Perfect place if you're looking for a nice restaurant well decorated and well located (right in the centre of Valloire), serving some good food in a lively atmosphere. There is sometimes live music around 6-7pm. However, if you're more into local/traditional mountain feeling, this is maybe not the place to book - Chez Fred is more like a "brasserie". I recommend it.

A group of 10 of us ate here on second night of holiday - we'd booked a few days prior to this which would be recommended given its popularity. Pizzas, burgers, pasta and very quick and tasty. Excellent service and would go back for their food tomorrow. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

In early October my husband and I dined Chez Karine. We were warmly welcomed but warned there was a limited menu that night. However, we dined on a very generous plate of charcuterie (way too much for just 2 people); an omelette (beautifully cooked) and salad, a selection of cheeses, followed by chocolate mousse, hand made by Karine. My husband said it was the best he had eaten in 5 weeks in France! It was rich in chocolate and cream and eggs.
Karine was an excellent hostess and lots of fun....my French is limited but we managed to communicate.
By the way, they have a good wine list and we drank a very nice bottle of vin de Bourgogne.
I would definitely return. It was excellent value, and Karine and her husband were most hospitable.
