The Kinosaki Marine World is an aquarium united with nature where the Japanese sea view unfolds before your eyes. Not only can you enjoy the sea beings in each area, you can also enjoy many exciting shows. Also you can hold sea urchins, starfish etc in your palm and you can take a walk with the penguins. It's an amazing experience. Our specialty is our Dolphin and Seal show which changes every year. It's a must see ! Many animals appear as well as dolphins and sealions at the show stadium where the Japan Sea spreads through in the background. Moreover, through the 5cm thick glass and Tube area you can observe various other sea beings.Unique experiences are awaiting you. See you soon!
Compared to the big Aquariums, this place definitely lacks variety of sea creatures however Kinosaki marine world is more enjoyable to go to because it has an awesome scenic backdrop of the ocean and crashing tidal waves that makes it so special. Furthermore their marine shows are good and their dolphins are so well trained. Im glad I chose to come here from Kyoto instead of Wakayama. One last thing is they have the best fried calamari rings which is just so awesome.

“Genbugan” rock is the Japanese name for basalt, which is ratger common rock worldwide, and which is formed from ancient volcanic activities. However, some formations show distinctive structural characteristics. Perhaps the best known example of such distinctive basalt formation is Giant Causeway in Northern Ireland, or Tojinbo in Fukui Prefecture, Japan. This park features a similar rock formation, with a unique twist. While the above two sites feature straight column formation, the park’s columns are twisted and turned by later geological forces. The end-result is a distinctive visual wonder of complex shapes and patterns of basalt.
The park is accessible by JR San-in Line, and it is a worthy additional destination for those who come to enjoy Kinosaki hot-spring town, or those visitors to San’in Kaigan Geopark Area that stretches along the Japan Sea coast of Kyoto, Hyogo and Tottori prefectures. The entrance to the park is free, but that to the adjacent museum, where one can find an interesting collection of characteristic rocks, minerals, and fossils from all corners of the world, is not.

Izushi Castle Town is 30-minute-drive from Kinosaki hot spring town. The Hyogo Park of the Oriental White Stork has the following basic functions: Species Preservation and Genetic Management Through captive breeding and genetic management, we preserve the once-extinct population of Oriental White Stork by raising them and releasing suitable ones into the wild to maintain and sustain a native population in the wild. Science and Implementation of Reintroduction In accordance with the Grand Design for Reintroduction of the Oriental White Stork that outlines short-term and mid-term targets for reviving stork populations in the wild, we proceed with the science and implementation of reintroducing storks into the wild.
This park is a must if you are interested in nature, and particularly about saving threatened species.
There is a breeding program in place to increase the numbers of white storks in Japan. The grounds are large and there is a learning centre at the entrance. Best of all is seeing the storks. We saw some flying in late one afternoon and it is a stunning sight. It is also possible to see them on the ground in an enclosure.
Well worth the visit and although entry is free, donations to help this conservation effort are welcomed, and I cannot imagine someone not wanting to contribute to this wonderful effort.
Do note it is a small drive out of town to this park. I am sure a hotel would be able to recommend transport for visitors without cars.

if you are kinosaki for at least two days, I recommend you take 2-3 hours break from onsen to do just a walk (or why not a bath) on this beautiful beach. The Takeno village is a bit 'desolate, perhaps mindful of past glories. However,...MoreDear Myluggageintheworld, Thank you very much for your comment. This is nice on a clear day to see the town and the surrounding waters but it's really an up and down. You go up take some pictures at the rooftop lookout walk around and then leave, if you have young children with you there is a nice pay area at the top you could spend an hour there burning up there energy although you have to watch them closely there is no fencing around the perimeter and the drop off is steep , also is very inexpensive 900 yen PP, enjoy !!!
