We went a walk around Roscommon and found our way to the park and then the castle. There's an interesting board near to it explaining all about the history of the castle. You can walk inside the ruin and imagine how it was in centuries gone by. Free to just wander in.

A small interesting and informative exhibition of the history of Knockcroghery pipe making. The highlight of the visit was seeing the proprietress make a clay pipe in the traditional way using the tools of the 1800's. She was friendly and welcoming and we came away having enjoyed our visit.
We were surprised that the whole experience was free of charge.

Roscommon Arts Centre

Multi-disciplinary venue providing a year round programme which includes theatre, music, comedy, dance, visual arts, workshops and classes.

Reviewed By Gwen McNamara B - Castlerea, Roscommon, Ireland

great venue in Roscommon town, a great selection of plays and art Exhibitions, keenly priced. Enjoyed Brendan Grace there recently and the theatre a while back. Also runs community based projects, which are enjoyable to participate in. Alcohol is served with soft drinks before the production and during the break which gives the impression of a City venue rather than a County one. There is something entertaining for everyone, and children's workshops and youth drama. Also plays pertaining to the Leaving cert students are held there so caters for all age groups, art diversity and a variety of productions to choose from. On my list for a great nights entertainment whenever I attend the Centre.

What we do: All Major Sporting Events, Live Music Pool Table - Local competition most Friday nights through the winter. Darts Board Juke Box High Speed WiFi Free Charging - Gadgets need juice and we have lots of plugs! phones/cameras/laptops we have most cables but not all of them so bring your just own to be sure. Beer Garden With Heated, Covered Smoking Area - Gets pretty cold & wet round here! Free Tea & Coffee For Bikers - Dermot loves his motorbike so if you're out for a ride, call in. Was here last Saturday night - place was buzzing, they had a Charity event on for Blood Bikes, seemed to be really well attended. Service is very friendly and fast paced - no waiting around for drinks. There was a BBQ out the rear of the Bar - not sure if this is normal - was part of the fundraiser, food was really good (don't mean to be surprised, but way better than I had expected).
Overall a very good pub - clean, well light, good service, great atmosphere.
Recommended highly.
